How many times did you use a guide or look up hints? Be honest.
How many times did you use a guide or look up hints? Be honest
0, never played it
None - but it hurt at times
None, but I also didn't finish it, I burnt out maybe halfway through
Too many.
Each time I was at my absolute limit of frustration and absolutely sure the game was at fault. I felt certain either the puzzle was broken or it required knowledge I didn't know.
Each time I found out that the answer was entirely within my grasp, and used knowledge the game had already taught me.
I quit shortly after getting to teleporters. The game is not for me.
I was at least proud I figured this one out on my own. Pic related.
More than I wanted.
Some of those puzzles were just too much for me at times. At other times they weren't too bad. Still waiting for the level editor.
I used it on one of the tutorial levels because I thought you could only join words left to right. I felt pretty dumb because I should have known that and must have had a brain fart. I haven't used a guide since as much as I want to. I am about half way through all the levels now.
None, but I quit pretty early since I'm a brainlet.
Like maybe 2 or 3 times, my dude.
none, which is why i never finished it
I only really wanted to pass most of the worlds and unlock the gate at the top, which is where the real shit begins. I think about 5 or 6, I don't really have the patience to sit on levels for more than 30 minutes, while making no progress.
very often in the beginning, then u played without the god damn music and actually it is way better now, the OST is annoying. currently in the fourth area? and stuck but i wont look shit up again, hopefully. any tips for when it seems like theres nothing i can do?
None but I'm still going through the game. This game is reminding me how much of a brainlet I am.
Who made Slugcat retarded?
What is the mentality for looking up puzzle solutions? I genuinely do not understand it.
A puzzle is supposed to be difficult, it's supposed to cause you to need to think really hard. If you actively go online and look up solutions, that's basically the same thing as downloading a hack to enable god mode in any action game. Like, what's the fucking point?
I'm talking about puzzle games in general here. This goes double if the game actually allows you to skip some puzzles. If you feel like you get to a point where you need to skip EVERY puzzle in an area, then you've clearly hit your point of mental limitation. If you're frustrated, then just stop playing, and come back later to try again.
The point of a puzzle is to be puzzled. Looking up a solution is the most backwards things to me. Yeah, I'm sure you wanna see the rest of the game, but what's the point if you're just going to look up the solution?
I can kind of understand it in a game like Portal 2, where story is also a big factor, and you wanna see the end, but in something like baba is you? Shit don't apply.
I didn't look anything up, and I beat everything (eventually). Sometimes I'd take an hour to get past a single level, but I made it alone. Puzzle games are pointless if you cheat- the whole appeal is in working out the solution. I played it on switch with my morning coffee for an hour a day for a couple weeks.
Sometimes the puzzles in some games can be absolute fucking bullshit.
because being stuck on one level for hours because you didn't notice something the game tried to teach you is frustrating. also some mechanics of the game are barely explained as they are introduced. the difficulty in this game in general is weird. in some levels it throws so much shit at you and then the next level is solvable in under a minute
Zero. It did take me 120 hours, though. I got stuck the longest on the "empty" one everyone seems to have trouble with.
Dropped it cause I'm to stupid to get through it and to prideful to look up hints.
any tips for crate square? what am i not getting here?
Leave and come back. Your monkey brain might just be fixated on what seems like the only solution or frustration is making you miss the obvious, so just take a step back and return later with a fresh mind.
i did that for three days now and wastes probably two hours of my life on one fucking level
BABA IS (YOU)
(YOU) IS DUMB
Hints? many times. Straight up solution because I was going mad? I think 2 times
i did it in baba because i hadn't unlocked all the levels yet and wanted to see what those were like
i understand its a terrible thing to do for a puzzle game, but also want to know what i was missing out on, cause my retard brain wasn't going to figure out some of those puzzles on my own
There have been a few notorious levels that had me stuck for 2 hours. Both ended up having a solution I didn't consider before because I was stuck trying what I thought was the solution over and over again. When I stepped away and came back with a different approach it only took a half hour. Others have taken me 20 minutes becuase I knew the end result, but not how to execute it. Just playing around in the level helps. Also helps to move onto another level and come back to the stuck level later. Remember that there IS a final solution, and you may have executed the steps, just not all of them or in the exact order required. It also may help to replay older levels.
I looked up a lot of hints desu, it was my first puzzle game and I'm pretty terrible at puzzles. Once I got the hang of it I needed the hints less though.
>play puzzle game
>use a guide
why even bother playing it then
that's like taking an IQ test with a cheat sheet next to you. there's no point
"Stuck on a puzzle, huh, guess I'll drop the game"
*tips fedora*
"You have bested me this time, videogame"
0 i straight up just gave up
yeah but the game straight out changes its rules. in one of the introductary levels with teleporters it is required to teleport text. currently stuck at ghost guard and text can not be teleported here
