am i going crazy?
I've been hearing the half life sound effects for years now
in literally everything from anime to movies and TV
did valve give out the sound library for free?
or did valve use a free sound library

post examples, i want to notice it from now on too
weird you say that I more or less frequently have HL2 flashbacks while watching movies
are you kidding? i thought i was going to get shit on because "everyone knows this already" or something like that
its in a lot, and i mean a lot of anime
right now im watching jojo and i hear it there maybe 1time per episode
Valve most likely got their sound effects from a licenced sound library
HL1 and HL2 used alot of royalty free sound effects.
>or did valve use a free sound library
It's that.
Half Life 2 used a few stock sounds, notably the metal hit sound, it's in loads of moves dating back to the 70's
fuck, i really really wanted to believe that everyone uses vales sounds because they are so good or something like that
that sounds exactly like half life
i remember, explosion sounds
rocket launcher sounds, and crash type of sounds
>the metal hit soun
this
I've definitely heard sounds from this game in other media. You're not alone.
HL3 confirmed!
This. You fags can't even into the industry.
Just wait till yall learn about Wilhelm screams.
nah it's pretty common in hollywood too
i know about the wilhelm scream
i thought i was a meme people put into their movies as a reference or something like that
Valve used both free and paid soundbanks, and both free and paid materials sources. Even some parts of OST have stuff from public soundbanks.
I keep hearing one of the zombie screams everywhere.
i really don't know how to feel about that now.
Engineers will typically buy and use sound libraries rather than recording their own sound effects. Recording every sound effect from scratch would be prohibitively expensive for all but the largest productions, and even they will use sound libraries.
It also happens with music. Lots of video game soundtracks are literally just layered shit out of the apple loop library.
it's not a meme, just that no one really cares about redubbing a bunch of generic sounds for every single movie or gaym
The weird TV transmission sound is from a paid sound library.
It's worse when you start to figure out most of the tricks of how the sausage is made, it's not limited to sound effects. I know the entire library of stock Adobe After Effects templates by heart because they're so overused by hack youtube editors.
where have you been? sampling has been common in music since the 90s. Like 100% of electronic music, including rap is just samples
>watch show about cops and crime and shit
>suddenly spooky wow music
>I know the entire library of stock Adobe After Effects templates by heart
im sorry for laughing but that's fucking hilarious
*shatters*
i can fucking hear that
I’ll always associate that sound with The Hobbit videogame
Fast Headcrab zombies
or Terran Academy from starcraft
i hear the doom door (which is a reference at this point) and the cacodemon fireball (which is stock sound effect) in everything too
