ME 2 and 3 are badly written, this is known.
Saren was completely right, and ME 2 should have just been civilization getting completely BTFO by the reapers unless Shepard convinces everyone to work with them.

Besides pic related, there were other good things, such as Wrex/Sheperd dialogs and those other crewmember interactions. Wrex and Grunt were both pretty decent explorations of a people operating with a fundamentally separate system of morals than the "western idealism/pragmatism" that the game assumes you have.

As a fan of western RPGs I tried to give ME1 a shot, got to the part where you save Liara
I found it pretty boring, a lot of cliched dialogue, none of the quest in the Citadel were fun except those relating to followers which were fine. Worst thing is the main quest though.
Should I keep going or is the game just not for me? Does it get any better?
