>literally one of the coolest dudes of all time
>we only get to play as him in 1 full 3D game in his prime, like ΒΌ of another and then a movie of him as a decrepit husk
>all so Kojima can wank over his deadbeat "muh cuntree for soldiers" retard dad (except even then it can't be him properly sometimes)
Literally one of the coolest dudes of all time

>and then a movie of him as a decrepit husk
It was forshadowed in MGS1 that he would die of acceleratingly old age you fucking retard.
Jesus, people who played the games did not pay attention to any detail. God fucking DAMN.
why do people care about playing as Snake so much
You've got the cart before the horse.
If they really wanted to they could have made an MGS3 that was set two months after the Big Shell incident, with Solid Snake still fairly young and lithe.
Based pleb who never experienced the kino of MG2
Am I allowed to admit I prefer Ghost Babel to MG1 and MG2?
MG1 yes, MG2 no.
This is a three and a half hour exploration of MGS4 by a guy with like ten videos on his account
It's one of the best long form pieces I've ever watched
Why would they do that
Poorly written gary stue that people only like because they can self insert.
I felt the same way OP until I marathoned the series and played MG1 MG2 and MGS1 back to back. I felt like Solid Snake's story was well enough done. Playing as him at the start of MGS2 was a nice treat but I felt fine moving into Raiden and eventually Big Boss. If anything going back to Solid in MGS4 felt weird.
They didn't bother to change the models for MGS2 because they were made at a time when the game was supposed to take place in 2006 with Plant being in 2007
You big dungus.
The final boss of Phantom Pain should have been Solid Snake, but Kojima was too fucking retarded to make a good story.
Yeah agreed, MGS was always really short on the fanservice.
Just pretend Death Stranding is what some kind of "middle aged Solid Snake" game would have been like.
>takes Kojima babble and turns it into a blockbuster
>gary stue
He's a fairly flawed character, he fits none of the criteria. Stop barking and think before you post.
I'll repeat my complaints from an earlier thread.
>believed in a computer simulation of The Boss
>who was the literal opposite of The Boss in ideology (world peace compared to real Boss who was more libertarian) and action (walked into the ocean instead of "finishing the mission")
>when he confronts Snake in MG1 he "finishes the mission" (instead of getting inspired by AI Boss to turn 180 degrees and walk away from him) anyway
OK... I guess??? Game has a great revenge is bad story but this is Kojima's worst Snake. Venom seems to be contradicting himself at every turn. and it doesn't help that his arc has a lot of loose ends up to interpretation.
Also his will to change the world to eradicate war in the hidden ending speech ruins the whole point of him not being a villain given that the source of villainy in the series's villains comes from them having a will to disturb the status quo to reach their goal, which inflicts a very big curse given the Solid Snake games. It also doesn't make sense if he's serving Big Boss's will in MG1 instead of his own, unless it's some sort of a manipulation tactic. Jesus fuck this series didn't need continuation past 4.
I will retain the opinion that the series should have ended at 2.
You completely misunderstood Peace Walker's ending if you think he was inspired by the AI walking into the sea. The ending is him explicitly rejecting that decision, concluding that the Boss was wrong. The entire reason he adopts the name Big Boss himself finally is because he legitimately believes he has surpassed the Boss.
>He doesn't know
Venom is not Big Boss.
Up tilt too strong
>genuinely believing that Venom is Big Boss
user, I....
Are you fucking stupid? Peace Walker occurs before V. Any divergence in memory and personality (if you argue that it occurs in a meaningful way) is going to occur at the point of V waking up from the coma. I.E the implanted memories and thoughts regarding the end of Peace Walker would be identical to that of Big Boss
>Believing that Venom is actually any different to Big Boss and is actually a totally unique character that's working against him!!!
Wipe this meme from the face of the earth
Nah you were right the first time
Apologies for the doublepost, but I want to concentrate my typo fix
Nice bait. If you said this just as right the game came out I would sympathize with you for not wanting to play this shitheap of a game. But it's 2020, surely you would know that I was talking about Medic rather than Big Boss. You're clearly trolling.
But just in the case you're actually stupid:
Venom is the guy that took AI Boss seriously and embraced it (believing like a gullible braindead retard that real Boss would think and act like it)
Big Boss is the guy that took AI Boss seriously and rejected it (believing like a gullible braindead retard that real Boss would think and act like it)
I missed the words "and rejected it" though
All this autistic head canon over Venom's motivation and individual ideology is so stupid. Venom is a (player insert) phantom, designed to mantle the meme of Big Boss and eventually embrace it entirely. Anything else is fan fiction, you can insert whatever you like to Venom's head but it's equally as valid as anyone else.
also (2/2)
>what is the hidden FOB ending
Venom embraced AI Boss despite having the memory of Big Boss rejecting it. It's called having your original identity (and thus your preferences) come back to your senses despite being brainwashed.
Yeah, just ignore the hidden FOB ending like it's not canon and has nothing to do with him as an individual! Haha! Just ignore the Paz moments too while you're at it! Haha! Sure thing goy!
Literally just stop posting.
Venom and BB have the same ideals or they atleast have very similar ones. Venom is just a better version of BB, Venom did all the cool shit and saved kids in warzones while BB just took the credit. Venom stays based
>People still deny the kino that is Solid's arc in MGS4
Solid was such a based protag in MGS4, what a great character
Venom died after MG2 so any cool shit and saving kid in warzone stuff that Big Boss did from there on is entirely his effort.
Unless Big Boss made more body doubles along the way. Which is very likely the case.
>died after MG1
Fixed, I'm a retard who can't type today
MGSV ending threads are the most schizo things on this board. Like on par with Zig Forums's "schizophrenia real" threads.
Time-jumping to him being old after MGS2 is kino. After 2's ending it would make sense for the world to go to complete shit and it was a great way to illustrate him as being a true living legend like everyone believed him to be.
Venom didn't go back to shit. Whoever he was before V was gone. Whatever decisions or person he becomes is entirely a result of his time as a Phantom and his own experiences, nothing to do with "original" personality or breaking the brainwashing. Diamond Dogs and Venom become their own(player created) thing through the events of V. "Medic" is not a character and has no bearing on anything outside of being the meatbag context for the player avatar. Venom becomes a character in his own right, but ultimately still serves the meme of Big Boss.
