PLAY UNDERRAIL
PLAY UNDERRAIL
Bought this on sale but haven't actually played it yet. Anything I should know before going in?
The Dude isn't bullshitting you, he's right about everything
don't start without looking up a build guide
Play psionics
the redpill that unlocks psi powers permanently reduces your hp
the doctor in SGS will heal you for free
play on easy (im not joking)
I did.
And then again.
And then again.
This, I'll call the 200 hours I dumped into it good until the expansion
Bump
Everytime I tell my friend about it he just shouts "UNDERTALE" and I dont know what to do.
Its driving me insane, just by uttering the word "Underrail" causes that knee jerk reaction. I lose all train of thought and cry
Play it blind, on hard difficulty in oddity mode. In the character builder, under feats, click "see all" and take a look at all of them to get a feel for what kind of character you can make. You can max out 8 skills at a time, you get 40 more skill points every level, a new feat at every even level, and an ability increase at 4th and every 4 levels until 24th. The game caps at lvl 25, or 30 with the expansion. Every ability/feat point is precious; put them where you NEED them. Don't try to be a jack of all trades, focus on one or two things.
The game forces you to think, and wants you to plan ahead. It gives you many tools and options, so make use of them. Learn the mechanics early, like actually study them when you start the game. It's a VERY good game, don't be fooled by how it looks/feels at first (you'll appreciate that stuff more later anyway). Take is seriously and you'll have a blast.
Like I said, play it blind so you get the full effect. Make a character that really vibes with you. You can play a few characters at the beginning to get a feel for it, then start again with a serious one, but dont go far without a character that's customized for you. Also, almost every option is good; the dev is a literal genius and has a strong passion for these kinds of games, he tried very hard to balance things.
I really like this game, but when I play and get about 35% in, i always restart or drop it for some reason I can't quite explain.
A lot of people have this problem. My diagnosis is they just aren't making "their" character for whatever reason, but are just trying out random builds. Make something that really fits you, something you can get into. Something custom and personal.
Play as a hammer wizard
Renaming difficulties isn't funny and is pretty disingenuous.
What do you want to play user, if you're aware of any of the options
You know I think you may be right. I got the deepest into the game going psy, but I hate psykers. Tried Stealth with a sniper rifle, but get gakked after taking that first shot when you are spotted. Tried Science Guy but found the chem gun to be subpar to a SMG. But you may have convinced me to get it a new run.
>Chem guns inferior to SMG
Now I've never done an SMG build but these things put people in the fucking ground.
No, user.
You need to give it some serious thought before going in again, least you waste your time in an unfinished run.
What you like to do in RPGs? What's the thing you usually 'vibe' the most?
how viable is a stealth/science build?
I like stealth/espionage. I was thinking about trying stealth with crossbows and supplement with traps.
The pic is perfectly accurate. The game needs to sell, so he says the difficulties are harder than they are so people don't play on "normal" and get buttblasted. If some kotaku faggot plays it and writes some bitchy article about how it's "inaccessible" or some shit, he loses potential customers.
Very. Basically any build is viable, and only a few are merely "doable".
nope, don't know a thing about it (other than what others are saying in this thread)
if i can build a character, first is usually a charismatic char that talk their way out of anything.
second being a strength based build where i can punch the fuck out of anything.
third being some sort of mage and playing with cool spells.
Stealth is viable for most of the game since you can sneak past basically every enemy
I will when they fix the fucking load times
You could stealth crossbow or stealth knife.
If you want, you can add pure Thought Control psi, since it syncs very well with stealth.
Psi monk, mainly PK
>when you cant help but laugh because its name is similar to the game made in Andrew hussies basement.
If someone gets too frustrated from normal they'll also get mad over easy and would be too prideful to play on easy in the first place.
IT'S TIME TO PLAY SNIPER.
TWO SNIPER RIFLES IN FACT.
A DICE ROLL AT EVERY ENCOUNTER
I'M LIVING IT.
lmao2sniper
Just tell him it's the sequel and to play it, fucking pipeworker
I just played that very build, in fact!
Well I can tell you right now that talking in this game is very much a secondary thing. Combat is very frequent and there aren't many options to talk people down.
Now, punching the shit out of people is /very/ viable, and you can incorporate psychic abilities into it if you want, but it isn't necessary. I played a bare knuckle fighter and had pretty good success. I could screengrab my build, even if it isn't optimal in a few places
Never played this game before, but considering picking it up. It's really hard for me to get into new games these days.
I'm addicted to the autismfest that is Path of Exile, sunk over 7000 hours into it the last 7 years. Loved Diablo/Diablo 2 growing up, and most of the Final Fantasies.
Will Underrail scratch the itch for good build customization? Is the loot/itemization good? How about the story? And it's turn based?
It's very different from those games. Wouldn't recommend it if that's what you're looking for.
I'M *miss*
*miss*
*reload save*
LIVING *miss*
*miss*

IT *HIT*
that's kinda my point; even shitters are too proud to play on easy, so they pick normal and their pride is assuaged by the "this is how the game is meant to be played" platitude. Normal is *actually* easy, so they should be fine. Easy is literal braindead journo mode; I would know, I've ran a few characters through it for testing purposes.
>Will Underrail scratch the itch for good build customization?
Yes, Underrail is basically a build simulator, almost everything can work so long it's not retarded and you have put a fair chase of planning on it
>Is the loot/itemization good?
Loot is okay, I think.
Itemization, as crafting, is very fucking powerful, crafted items can vastly outshine looted/traded stuff, and even surpass unique weapons.
>How about the story?
The story is there, it's okay, nothing mind blowing.
The lore is fucking great, however it's behind late game content, so it will take some time to get to it.
>And it's turn based?
Yes.
>there aren't many options to talk people down.
but there are some, and they aren't trivial situations
Helps with the pirates and the faceless in buzzer's shop (If you don't do foundry first) but I'd rather just put the former on ice, and skip the persuasion check via foundry's quests for the latter
