DBZ: Kakarot

What went wrong?

the name

kamehameha spamming

>call game kakarot.
>you play as gohan for 70% of the content, then piccolo, vegeta and goku for the other 10% each.
>no ground combat, everyone is flying constantly all the time forever.
>there are 2 types of enemies: physical based that get in your face a lot and are easy to deal with, and enemies with infinite ki that literally never stop spamming long stance massive AoE ki blasts.
Great cutscenes though and the combat could use some work and it would be good.

So it’s pretty accurate to the show then?

no dragon ball

>lets make yet another game about the DBZ story instead of the OG dragonball
gee I donno

>It lacks the over-the-top fighting from Utlimate Ninja Storm, which is what most people were excited about with CC2 developing this
>The open world becomes a thing you just speed through from objective to objective once you hit a certain level.
>Blew an opportunity to start from the very beginning of Dragon Ball, which has a greater sense of adventure, and just opted to rehash Z for the billionth time

For the first attempt at a Dragon Ball open world it's honestly not that bad.
I want Bandai to take another shot at an open an world Dragon Ball in the future one day they can perfect it.

it's dragon ball.

Shit controls

Ugly character design, the Tenkaichi series looked better.

I enjoyed the game, though the DLC was extremely disappointing.

It’s the cringe Z Goku instead of the based Dragon Ball Goku

They got rushed somewhere around the Cell Saga

>the Tenkaichi series looked better
Tenkaichi was blockier and less expressive than Budokai.

not really. they dont use kamehame that often.

The Budokai models look fucking off model compared to BT3. What are you smoking?

There is no perfecting it. Open world is a garbage genre and even if it wasn't it doesn't suit Dragon Ball Z in the slightest.

Care to explain?
Worth if its on sale?
I liked the game, the only DB game Ive played since those fighting ones in SNES, it felt like an OK Zone of Enders, and I was craving for a DBZ summary.

DBFZ is still around for those who prefer better combat

XV2 is still around for those who prefer lore

All this plus the fact that this is at least the 6th time we got this story in video game format. WOW! we get to see all the Dragon Ball characters like Android 8 and Red Ribbon Army?? What is this Dragon Ball GT? At least they put in some of Super. But not the best boy. Pic related.

I don't know about anyone else but I'd rather play a Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Super game.

I would recommend it if you liked the anime.
It recreates a lot of it and there was a lot of soul put into it.

The Tenkaichi models were legitimately bulbous and expressionless, are you high? The Budokai models were the most on-model we had until Burst Limit. Spike didn't get the models right until fucking Raging Blast.

is all the DLC out for Kakarot or just the Beerus one?

Using an arena fighter combat system when you constantly fight multiple enemies and you can't even have proper grounded combat.

Meant the DLC, how was it disappointing?
It's not that I like DBZ that much, liked it back in the 90s.
Recently read the manga and was in nostalgia mode, so I decided to buy Kakarot.

Then Raging Blast 2 happened and they lubbed them up.

Same boring formula of every other DBZ game. No real incentive to really do anything outside of the main quest since it basically forces your level to stay where it expects you to be at. 80% of the cutscenes are visual novel tier garbage. The RPG system is kinda trash.

DLC has a brand new map, but there's no enemies in it.
You can do missions for Whis, like the ones from the Android in Bulma's lab, and that's pretty much it. The story also has you just talking to Whis and triggering cutscenes.
The only good thing is that it makes leveling up extremely easy but that's it.
Also, the DLC took the baffling decision of having a good chunk of those 'story' Whis missions be at very low levels, like lv 20, up until the last few 'story' missions.

Too spread out. They should have pick a single arc and flushed things out.

>no ground combat
This is off topic but....This is my biggest fear for the Avengers game. That Iron Man and Thor won't have ground combat and will only fight in the air.
