When I first saw this game at the nintendo direct in September I thought it was just some generic RPG and was disappointed.
But then I actually played it and hoo boy this is some high tier kino. I can't believe this game almost rotted away on the Wii of all systems.

HELP ME WITH ZANZA!
I get there at level 77 and I can actually fight him fine in his second form UNTIL THOSE FUCKING ANGELS GET SUMMONED!
There are two major problems I have with this.
>During the angel fight, Zanza releases/spams a fuck ton of energy blasts which do 900 damage per hit and can completely fuck over my party
>the angels themselves are taking forever to pull down and if Zanza uses his sweep topple attack, I instantly lose
HELP ME PLEASE!
Also for elaboration, the furthest I got in his second form was him summoning the angels for a third time, where everything was going ok until Reyn fucked up pathing and failed to bring me back, after being stuck on one of those FUCKING ANGELS.
Grind
Stack a tanky Reyn with Ether Resist and stack Sharla with stealth. You've now won the game.
Do you have a retards guide to how to make those gems?
Yes, use sharla and riki to make your gems as close to 99%
Get 2 gems that are 99% and have Shulk and Reyn get past 300% to make 2 versions of an upgraded by 1 gem
I grinded to 80 something to beat him my first play through
I had shit gems back then because I didnt understand all the mechanics so I probably could have done better
Shit, meant "get 2 cylinders close to 99%"
My GFs birthday was a few days ago, we live together and I gave her Xenoblade 1, 2 and Torna for her birthday. I still don't fucking get this franchise but she hasn't stopped playing Xeno 1
Thanks. I added some ether resist gems to Reyn, totalling up to +90 or so.
Sharla I lack any stealth gems though...what use are they for? Keep aggro off?
equip everyone with spike defense gems but primarily your best attacker and focus on the minions as soon as they come out
you are finishing the game with shulk... right?
>Sharla I lack any stealth gems though...what use are they for? Keep aggro off?
Yeah, you can use aggro down too or just look up the page where to grind for arts stealth cylinders
Imagine FF12 but better.

I am. Though I am getting mixed messages here. My primary issue is Zanza's random spark balls second form when he summons the minions. That is ether damage right?
It's a game that lets you fuck around a bit in a large open field with very little hallways. Plus it's not too difficult to complete, especially since casual and expert mode both help with grinding.
yeah just equip ether def if you don't have a problem against the spike damage
Cool. Will try again tomorrow. Spent hours tonight failing to kill Zanza. Got him to 30% second form then the angels came and it all went to hell.
How does casual help with grinding?
I must have been playing wrong this whole time
Man, this brings me back to high school when I spent all morning on a Sunday trying to fight him. I was level 76 with shit gems, alright equipment, and only the default skill tree filled in for every character cause I didn't know you needed to select other ones to level them up. I didn't want to go back to before Dickson to grind since I barely got past him so I just kept fighting Zanza over and over again trying to build up party meter and chain attack and then hope for RNG to continue the links to do enough damage to scrape me by. This was with Shulk/Dunban/Fiora and they had maxed affinity. It took me like 2 hours but I finally succeeded and I felt so good about myself when I watched the final cutscene and the credits. I don't recommend this strategy but damn if I don't look back on the memory fondly.
You can kill higher level monsters stupid easy.
>I must have been playing wrong this whole time
this is what almost every single person that plays xenoblade thinks hahaha
But does it offer less exp. Or lower drop rates? Downsides?
Nope, you can turn it on and off whenever. I believe it erases the agility penalty for higher leveled enemies. Then again you can cheese a lot of bosses with night-vision and topple up gems
>MMO filler combat
>Better than gambits
At least in FF12 the party members you aren't controlling do what you want them to do.
Then you run into the problem of the game basically playing itself.
