Now that it's getting a TV show, can we agree that Myst III: Exile is the best game?

It’s pretty good, but Riven will always be GOAT. The question is, are 4 and 5 worth playing?
I'm a Riven man myself
>Now that it's getting a TV show
WAT!?
Anyway no it's Riven.
Exile is good but Edanna is way too cartoony.
Who the fuck chooses Myst III over Riven?
Been years since I've played 4 and that was like once through. I'll see talk about 1, 2 and maybe 3. Past that, I never hear much.
Did the Myst developer make anything good after Riven? I see they came out with a "spiritual successor" called Obduction.
Myst 3 is good, Myst 4 is medicore, 5 is bad, Uru is mediocre but pretty unique, Obduction is good
Were they involved with 3 and 4? My glance at Wikipedia said they were done by different studios.
>Now that it's getting a TV show
Say what now?
Oh yeah they didn't do 3 or 4 I guess.
>Now that it's getting a TV show
So it's going to be 30 minutes of a guy reading books and fiddling around with weird machinery?
>Riven will never have an HD remaster
it's painful to have such an elegantly-constructed game stuck on a postage-stamp resolution
They're working on real riven right now.
I wish they would do Riven: Masterpiece Edition. I like the point-and-click. Riven is still gorgeous. Graphics aged a lot better than the original Myst's.
Obduction was good enough that I'm excited for Firmament. Also they're publishing now, but mileage will vary with those games, they seems kinda meh
Patiently waiting for firmament. Curious to see what they are doing with a vr first game.
Real Riven is going to have point and click mode just like real myst. Also they're working on VR for it too apparently.
Starry Expanse Project completion never ever
GIVE ME RIVEN VR PLEASE
also what the fuck is this about a myst TV show
They're actually part of Cyan now, which I assume means they're now doing it full time so they'll probably make a ton of progress very quickly. Hopefully it will be out in the next 2-3 years.
Oh great.
4 is a massive step down from the first 3. Haven't played 5 yet.
>"The best-selling ’90s action adventure CD-ROM puzzle game Myst is being adapted for a new television series, written by Thor and X-Men: First Class screenwriter Ashley Edward Miller."
>Probably going to be quippy shallow marvel-esque trash
god damn it I just wanted a character study about Atrus and his misadventures in creating and abandoning ages, the amount of stuff you can do with stuff like the backstory to Sirrus and Achenar alone even forgetting about the rich history you can add to literally any age in the series has massive potential.
There are multiple books about the collapse of the D'Ni and Atrus' daddy issues. There's definitely material to build a series around but I have zero faith that it'll be anything but trash
I'm sure it will be all baseded up and instead of treating the native american influence of the series with respect like the series always had, they're going to either completely remove it or make it a cartoon version of itself. As is always the case with these sorts of things now days.
>action adventure
Excuse me? Can't wait for all the exciting fight scenes Myst is known for
>He didn't commit great acts of violence during the compass puzzle in the storm age.
I played a little bit of Obduction the other day, it definitely feels like it's got that cyan spirit but man Unreal Engine 4 is a shit engine because the TAA blur really gets in the way of exploring that world in VR to the point that you can barely even read the notes, which is a shame because it has been a childhood dream of mine to play the Myst games in VR and I think the dudes making Firmament agree considering they've been focusing on making their games VR compatible and Obduction has a similar atmosphere to myst though a bit more fallout-esque thus far based on what I've played.
I'm gonna try and find the r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=1 convar for Obduction later and see if that fixes the blur.
More like 4 hours of flipping switches randomly wondering what the fuck they do.
It's a strange choice to adapt Myst.
Sure there is some (little) material involving characters directly but it's mostly an atmospheric game where you feel alone 95% of the time. Discovering the story of previous characters through leftover intel is integral to the story. I can't imagine how dumb it would look with the bin mentor figure making lore drop speeches.
Normalfag audience want character interactions every minute.
I'm assuming it'll be a prequel about the D'Ni civilization or some shit
Obduction in VR just feels janky in general. It's a better experience without it. I'm really hoping it's because Obduction came out quite early in the VR timeline, so the new game will be a better experience
