I was just playing 1/2 Genie Hero and it's pretty damn fun so far. I have a weakspot for games/shows with such a strong musical throughline as well.

I want to make quarter genie babies with Shantae!

So, what's the general consensus with seven sirens, im playing through it for the first time and something about it just feels really incomplete, not to mention how easy it is.

the games are really fun. there's small bits of fanservice though usually just a joke or a small section of the game but retards love to do their song and dance and pretend that's all the game is about. it's a cute and funny platformer that doesn't try to take itself too seriously story wise.

half genie hero is better in overall presentation id say, although the new animated cutscenes are quite nice

I've only ever played 1/2 genie hero and the game was mostly frustrating to me.
Not that it was hard or anything, but I don't really like how Shantae controls (the inertia, transition from landing a jump to running again etc.), the combat has no oomf to it, the stages aren't that pretty to look at and the story is placeholder tier.
Feels like playing a H-game without porn (and it wouldn't even be that well ranked compared to those).

My understanding is that making a game around a kickstarter campaign, with evolving stretch goal features and a limited budget is bound to have the game feel like a patchwork of stuff rather than a solid game with a vision, so I'll reserve my judgement on the IP as a whole

you should play pirate's curse, it's a complete inverse to this due to it's gimmick of Shantae having lost her Magical powers (and the tedious stop-start transformation gameplay) in the previous game (Risky's Revenge).

It's really not so bad if you time your transformations well.

Seven Sirens has platforms and enemies which are completely invisible with no tell unless you use Shantae's power for it every room. Way Forward knows how to fanservice but after twenty years at this they should know better.

I'll give it a try, it's good to see it's available on so many platforms.

yeah, but that's the problem. Shantae's intended gameplay has always been stuck at "not bad" for me.

Pirate's curse sticks out like a sore thumb with it being essentially this complete antithesis to the basic concept of the series, and is just all around completely better in function. even the Risky 1/2GH DLC generally better, albeit it being a slower paced version of Pirate's curse.

I like the variety it adds to the gameplay, and I don't mind mentally planning how to do something in the least possible amount of transforms to make it flow. Different strokes I guess.
