Mortal Shell

In a scale of Indie Soulslikes, is this gonna be as shitty as Lords of the Fallen or as great as The Surge 2?

theyre both trash

has potential to be great but in the state it's in right now it's lord of the fallen tier

The art direction is top notch, the gameplay and animations department is trash, the animations lack impact, they feel like wet slaps

Didnt they fix that? One of the impression videos I saw yesterday said they fixed that and that combat actually got some weight to it now.

Still not enough

Whenever companies try to make souls inspired game they always make very clunky combat.
Just shows how ahead From software has been since that their combat is always very smooth fun to play(ignoring few broken hit boxes).
Code vein, hellpoint, lorda of the fallen, mortal shell, all of them have very weird looking animations and movements.
Only Nioh has been able to make a combat which is also fun and different.

I only remember the gameplay trailer with them whapping the boss
Looked real bad

>Only nioh
I mean, it's team ninja, satisfying animations is a low bar to clear for them, even the warriors franchise with 100+ unique characters, they manage to make each character feel unique and satisfying to play,

It'll have great gameplay and visuals but it'll literally be a dark souls copypaste in terms of atmosphere and plot.

>implying animations from warriors games don't get stale after 3 levels
it's even worse when it's those animations that take a whole cutscene to play out. If you're not disgusted by the musou games it'll come.

Who does everyone hate Lords of the Fallen? I actually finished it twice, it's not bad at all.

Code Vein had the only magic system out of all of them that felt actually useable, so I'll give it that.

the biggest problem with dark soul clones is that they always lack enemy variety
yeah its real fun still fighting the same mobs the whole game

Dark Soulless

But the surge was shit tho

Playing Surge felt like I was controlling someone who was controlling the character, felt so bad to play

Been watching the beta on twitch
Looks pretty good (for a beta made by indie Devs)

But they said it's only 20hrs of gameplay and there's only 4 shells and 4 weapons so I feel like it will really lack replayability

>The Surge 2
>Great
Look, Code Vein won that battle, so you can stop pretending that Surge 2 was good. Westernshitters lost (yet again).

From has the benefit of regurgitating reused assets from all their games so it just makes each new game have more enemies. It's amazing how much of DaS1 was just ported over and slightly tweaked from DeS. It's a lot harder for other devs to try to match that variety, especially when a lot of their resources go into making the game not look like a PS3 launch title.

>shitty as Lords of the Fallen or as great as The Surge 2?
Both of them are shit. Westerners unironically never made a good Soulslike.

Feels like all these devs fail at getting the thing that makes these games so fun: the variety. Almost every Souls clone just has static weapon types where every weapon of that type has the same moveset. Many of them have a premade character with a throwaway story no one cares about. The lack of character customization, unique armor and weapons, and unique builds really cripples the clones Often the progression is 100% linear on rails too. In other words, most Souls clones are just action games instead of action RPGs.

Nioh did great tough.

No one posting about Hellpoint?

Please play Code Vein, there's very few weapons with 100% identical movesets in it.

>the animations lack impact
This is typical Souls combat though. Everyone swings everything around like it's made of tin and cardboard and enemies completely ignore the impact 9/10 times.

Does Surge have this?

Westerners made it before "soulsbourne" was even a thing.

>This is typical Souls comba
But enough about DS2. DaS got impact nicely for most weapons and 3 handled it as well as it could've, for fast Souls.

Lords of the fallen was dark souls but good

Art is great. Gameplay and combat... i don't know. Maybe it feel better when you play it. So far 7/10.

>More Soulshit

Make it fucking end.

Surge 1 is better than Dark Souls 2.

>took the Epic bribe money

That pretty much always means it's going to be a shit game.

>But enough about DS2
They're all like that.

70% bad!
