It's kind of funny because Edelgard herself doesn't give a fuck about Dimitri either way in the game, so I don't know why his fans feel the need to seethe over her to the extent that they do.
Dimitri dies off-camera irrelevant and pointlessly in two routes. He has his own which is dedicated to waifuing him, but even in CF he's really just a sideshow for Rhea.
I mean, I actually liked Dimitri until I played his route though after Rodrigue's death his arc kinda gets sloppy.
I really don't understand why it has to be like this. Probably not my fault because AM waasn't my first route which arguably twists the narrative into this stupid rivalry to the extent of the game's whole narrative.

Bruh, in CF Edelgard has a whole speech where she cries over killing Dimitri and laments how there was nothing she could do to save him, in AM she calls Dimitri her dear friend and thanks him for giving her the dagger. Edelgard cares for Dimitri just not more than her goals

She is sad because as she said "he would be a great king" if he didn't fall victim to the duscur plot. However, Dimitri becoming a revenge crazed madman is not just Arundel's fault. He surely had a disposition towards violence and as Ferdinand and Felix said, someone with his responsibility shouldn't be allowed to go mad with revenge that and drag the whole kingdom into zealotry and allying with a proven bad institution.
