//Verticality//

What are some Strategy/Tactical Turn-Based Games with verticality?

Off the top of my head I can think of NuCOM and Final Fantasy Tactics. What else am I missing here?

Is anyone else satisfied when they push someone off a really steep ledge? Not related but I also wanted to ask that since it's sorta related.

Tactics Ogre PSP have verticality. The optional fight in the first chapter has skeleton archers and mages picking you out at the top of a fortress you have to climb and it gives them a huge advantage on distance while your own archers and mages can't do shit.

Hoshigami - Ruining blue earth

Nothing on PC? I mean I guess I can emulate stuff.

Fell Seal. Verticality is really useful in it, and its the best FFT-like i have ever played.

>Is anyone else satisfied when they push someone off a really steep ledge?
Yes, it's why I gave my dragoon that had a spear in TO knockback IV (IV is 100% chance to push an enemy back a tile when you hit them unless they have a passive skill that nullifies it) to give him something to do in the meantime while he walked towards dragon units.

I can vouch for that as well. The art style is butt ugly, but the game itself is great.

Mario+Rabbids comes to mind. You can use allies as trampolines to jump on the high ground, and attacking from above boosts your weapon damage.

The story and art screamed Tumblr so hard I had to drop it.

>Verticality is a thing
>Leads to bird people and any class with Indirect damage spells that aren't affected by height differences being OP

Disgaea, they're on PC and they're fucking great.

Divinity Original Sin does it

Mutant year zero: road to Eden

This would legitimately be one of the greatest games if it didn't have such god awful sprites.

>FFT
>Verticality
The vast majority of your skillsets ignore verticality in that game

I'm an idea guy and this project is a long ways off but I've been thinking about making my own TRPG and think I'm onto a whole lot of 'groundbreaking' ideas. Would love to discuss them with other fans of the genre

discord is Cappucinccino#4020

Some of the ideas, that I have absolute confidence in, include
>80+ classes which are all unique
>Primary secondary and a special tertiary class for customization
>A system which allows for an unlimited sized party but encourages you to split up the party anyways
>three different categories of status effects
>in-depth elemental magic system
>Dual-techs and social links shared between randomized party members
>Inability to directly control the rest of your party besides your player character, balanced out by randomized personalities and an order system

this was my problem with it. I don't want to spend hours staring at that ugly shit

TA2 is trash but uses it well. Gun-class weapons and bows get really fucked up by large cliffs.

>80+ classes with three class-tiers of customization and unlimited party sizes
Have fun balancing that fucking nightmare.

I subscribe to the warframe philosophy.

>Game is single player so what's wrong with something being overpowered?
>party members aren't directly controlled by you and therefore can't take FULL advantage of broken builds
>If the player finds a way to break the game and become overpowered then good for them, they earned it and should have fun with it

7,62 high calibre

>80+ classes which are all unique
I can't think of 80+ pancake toppings
Good luck with the 80+ classes dude

Fuck ideas guying and make a proof-of-concept you pussy

I feel like no one talks about Pokemon Conquest, but that shit as lit as hell. One of my favorite strategy games, huge amount of replayability due to beng able to acquire new pokemon and warriors each game

I was actually considering typing out 100 different pancake toppings

Somewhat related, what are some FPS games with verticality, games that make you think and aim in 3 dimensions?

God I love the bird people in Tactics Ogre LUCT. Versatile as hell will a great movement speed.

I've already come up and written them all down except for 4. Each class includes
>around 10-15 active skills or passives
>A strong identity
>Extra skills if the player doubles down in them instead of changes class when it's time for a class upgrade

Throw out a random class or concept you like and I'll post the closest concept to it.

>Fuck ideas guying

I agree. Been an idea guy my entire life. Finally got tired of being worthless. Making a game requires a lot of skills I need to develop one at a time though. Decided to start with a webcomic to improve art skills. Next would be programming.

I would really enjoy a mod that changed the graphics to something like FFTA2

Disgaea. Being able to throw your teammates is great, too.

Not really, it affects area/range of most skills/spells.
