Because race gives an indication of certain phenotypes, but there are no strict boundaries that would determine when you are one race and when you are not. Therein, "race" isn't wholly precise and you can have a big mix throughout your ancestor lineage. You could have all sort of shit in your family tree, so you don't come from a white race heritage. It's not how it works.
