Just beat it for the first time. Fitting, considering what day it is.
It's amazing that this story was written in 2001. It really did predict the future.
Just beat it for the first time. Fitting, considering what day it is
April 30th is the most fitting day to beat it
what about april 30th?
Play the game and find out. It really turns that day into something special.
Yes you're right, but July 4th is probably the second best day.
Ludonarrative Harmony
Eh.
It still follows the standard pattern of gameplay -> switch to cutscene for infodump -> back to gameplay for virtually the entire game.
MGS2 shouldn't be viewed as the apex of games as art, rather it should be seen for what it is, a small hint of the brilliant things that may come one day. Games aren't even close to reaching their full potential.
April 30th is when the game takes place.
It's also the day Rose keeps on nagging Raiden about with the whole "do you know what day it is tomorrow" bullshit that got so bad I started skipping her dialogue.
Revenge!
how do we go from mgs2-3 to this
Rose's dialogue was one of the best parts of the game for me, I don't know why it triggers people so much.
i am pretending to be raiden you morons
the way the VA delivered it made her sound like an annoying/nagging girlfriend.
Raiden?
kojima based rose on his wife
How meta
Why is 2 the only Metal Gear to get a sizeable expansion?
>Hundreds of VR Missions
>Snake Tales
>Skateboarding
>The super rare edition with the "making of" interactive documentary
reminds me of that mgs game
3 had the secret theater with the comedy sketches
That's not interactive content though.
i miss 1/2 stealth format, 3 is just so slow and "tranq everyone at long range", makes extreme piss easy
Kojima didn't want to make anymore but felt like he had to because fans demanded it and his team couldn't do it without him
hes just like me
It didn't predict shit by itself. The internet was a lot more popular im Japan than in the rest of the world in the late 90s, so concerns about information control in the digital age came earlier.
It's still a great story but i wouldn't praise it for being prophetic when other japanese media did the same.
The Silver Case and Serial Experiments Lain are the first examples that come to mind. Both highly recommended if you liked MGS2.
Because we weren't supposed to get another game. So they went all fucking out.
OP here, The Silver Case has been high on my list of things to play for a while now so now I'm even more excited to play it.
Wasn't 3 the planned end of the series?
Each game since 2 has been the planned end of the series.
no it was 2 then konami had trouble making 3 and kojima hopped in
Don't forget the movie, "Sneakers" from 1992. The main antagonist's vision is pretty relevant today.
Well, specifically, AI being used to censor political information online was science fiction in 2001. But now it's standard operating procedure for major tech companies.
MGS1 is the only one with an expansion - VR Missions/SPECIAL MISSIONS/INTEGRAL
What you've listed was included as part of an MGS2 re-release, you couldn't get it stand-alone.
