Rev 2008 is the version number not the year more accurately the revision number probably for the SVN
It's definitely not emulated, emulation would be way more CPU heavy.

Well in Yukiko's case, it's a combination of three factors:
1) She doesn't follow the recipe
2) She tries to get creative with the recipe despite not even following it in the first place
3) She doesn't taste her own food
Chie seems to have largely the same problem.
Generally speaking, most culinary issues should be easily solved if you just taste your own fucking food. It's pretty much rule #1 of cooking: Never feed someone else something you haven't tried yourself.

That scene is better in hindsight if you go the harem route. All the girls might as well have sabotaged Nanako's recipe in order to fuck Yu over.
