I disagree, the battle system is more enjoyable in Deltarune and there's more potential to exploit. Only major thing it lacks from Undertale is a meaningful distinction between pacifist and genocide.

You're just saying you prefer the asthetic though. I doubt you actually prefer Undertale's battle system over Deltarunes, because in Undertale you're forced to conform to certain rules in how you battle if you aim for a specific ending, whereas in Deltarune you can battle in any way you want. Having 3 characters with distinct battle styles also adds to strategy, and the strategies are more different than just "kill or don't kill" if you want to spare or kill everything.
