YS

I'm playing Ys origins and loving it, Zava is muh waifu.

Are the other games fun too?

Ark of Napishtim and Oath in Felghana uses the same engine of Origin (Ark was the first one), they are all pretty good.
The other games are also good but not exactly similar. Origin is a prequel of Ys Chronicle (with a massive time gap between them, but the goddesses and the descendants of Origin' characters are still present) but with a "bump car" sort of combat, the full 3D games (Seven, Celceta, Dana) are party-based action RPGs.

They are though there are different styles of play for each couple of games. The action platformer one you're playing now is the third of three of them.

Ys VI Ark of Napishtim and Ys Oath in Felghana (Ys 3 remake) are the other two. I'd recommend starting with Ark afterward since mechanics wise it's the most dated of the three.

Based.

If you want more of Origin styled gameplay, there's oath and ys 6.

If you don't mind bumper cars the first two are worth playing, and finally there's the party system games which is Ys 7 onward

Origin and Ys VIII are both kino
Falcom is one of the best devs on the planet.
Trails GOAT JRPG and GOAT franchise of all time.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing discord trannies trying to raid Zig Forums get triggered because they see Estelle, Alisa, or Rean posted in a thread ;)

She is best.

Thank you very much anons.
I mostly want to play something with a similar mechanic, I'm in love with the fast paced hack-and-slash (I think that's the name) action Origin uses.
I'll check the ones you re saying.

Origin is my favorite. The three characters have slightly different stories with their own boss fights but it is still relatively similar so I recommend doing one playthrough, playing something else, coming back for your second playthrough, playing something else, then playing the last character's route.
Oath in felghana is my second favorite and is very similar to origin. Seven and eight are quite different but still enjoyable, and 1, 2, and dawn of ys are another style that is also decent.

I don't have the save file to take a screenshot, but she likes roos. If you transform into a Roo in Ys II, she gushes over how cute you are while trying to violently murder you.

Bumper car combat > Ark-to-Origin era combat

Only if you ignore the Dark Fact fight.

I thought the dark fag fight was pretty fun

It's fun to mess up or get hit with bad RNG the first few times but after awhile the rage swells up. Ys2 is a much better balanced game even though magic can be alittle busted.

The bat dude was way worse imo. Dark fact was a short fight but the bat would just spam his invulnerable phase non stop if you get fucked by rng just like the flying boss in felghana

You talking about the dragon in the lava portion of the game? If so I agree.

That was honestly the worst fucking boss in Felghana. Who thought that only making a tiny portion of the bridge available randomly was a good idea?

I hope OP has a stress reliever tool of choice at the ready whenever he reaches this point.

The entire lava area in Felghana is more anti-fun than anything in Ys 1

I got filtered by origin's hard mode long time ago and dropped it, not to the bosses but unironically the fucking mobs.

Depends on which version you play, because the original release didn't even let you move diagonally. Chronicles is the modern version. People who fall for the chronological meme get won over by the gameplay style of Origins, and then feel disappointed by the earlier games playing completely differently. This problem isn't exclusive to this series, it happens every time there's a prequel.

>ruined Ys with the cancerous party system and dodge spam fest
>made the same rpg game again and again on the same ps2 engine for nearly a decade
>GOAT of anything

OP here centipede made me go insane.
Use hammer to hit him when he is out reach.
Use wind to walk over him and do damage when its on reach. Make the damage even so that it doesnt spread too many eggs.
When it does the wheel thing get away and look from the border what part of the room is he gonna crush to run to the other side. Wait until it stops to keep attacking.

Also, go back and gain a couple levels more before facing it, makes the difference.

Thanks. I tried something similar but all my attacks deal so little damage. I will try to gain more levels

I started with Origins and had more fun with 1&2

Ys 8 is far better game than any other Ys shits out there.
