Most sane devs left gaf before it exploded and never joined pedoera. Everyone who's left there is a leftie with a couple of skeletons in their closet.

There are not a lot real gaming "forums" anyway.

If we just look at the English big players we have

it's one of the most heavily moderated gaming forums out there which makes it safe for devs to come along and not be subjected to nasty things like bigoted constructive criticism or phobic differing opinions.

its because the media outlets keep on talking about the forum in a positive manner
despite the amount of doxxing, cancel campaigns, death threat mobs, and predators
that are linked to that forum, that's why the forum has become prominent.
meanwhile places like reddit, youtube, and etc are seemingly following that forums example and adopting rules similar to it.
but I know from experience watching forums come and go that all it would take for that forum to be shutdown like neogaf
is if they were not only linked but were the cause for a crime to occur which based on the state of affairs in the western countries, it shouldnt be long

It seem like several people from the video game industry (writers, localisers, etc) are prolific users there. Cant really deny that the echochamber culture there has no influence on the projects these devs are part of. Worse is most of them appear to be really toxic individuals themselves.
