I don't mind the cartoony art of the later monkey island games but the style in the remaster just isn't all that appealing. I'm glad they let you toggle back to the original.
The look of the original gives off pulpy adventure serial vibes and the relative seriousness of their designs contrasts so hard with the dialogue that it just makes the latter funnier.

Top isn't realistic, it just doesn't have a horribly stylized art style.

I was hoping for a Monkey Island thread.
What are your thoughts on 5? It's pretty hard to get right now but I hear it's pretty good.

I mean it'd be reasonable to dislike certain animes or genres but completely hating all anime because they are anime sounds pretty irrational to me. Even you could find a few anime you'd enjoy.

The cartoon shit from monkey island 3 was already how to do it for the series.
Remake cartoon gfx are just soulless.

Monkey Island 6 fucking when, bros?

It has some of the best, and some of the worst puzzles in the series, combined with one of the worst stories.
It retcons way too much stuff, and really didn't need to exist.
But then I also don't really like 3's story.
Also, 2 is the best from a gameplay perspective, but fuck man, it is really mean spirited compared with 1.

Oh wait you're probably talking about Tales of MI, I was freaking out there for a second.

Eh, it's alright but kinda soulless (unironically). Most episodes boil down to kind of the same puzzle format where you make something first and then in the endgame have to improvise make it again with out of the box components.
It has some nice storybeats, mostly in the 4th episode which honestly is pretty kino. But overall, eh.

I liked it better than Escape, but that's not such a high bar. The first three are all MUCH better.

2 has the best gameplay indeed, 3 has the best presentation and second best gameplay. I like 3s story fine though I wasn't that satisfied with some of the explanations regarding big whoop and such, but that was to be expected with Gilbert leaving.

Its cheaper to animate androgynous looking characters? No wonder trannies love modern anime.
