It filtered poisefags, and turned mobs into actual foes instead of overglorified time wasters.

Only 4 areas went right:
Lothric outer walls
Irithyll
Anor Londo
Lothric castle

the rest of the game is FF13 tier hallways through same-ish looking catacombs and swamps there you get poisoned the whole time, 80% of this game is hella gay

Saddens me that we never got the DS3 we deserved.
Bosses got shuffled around to the point they made no sense.
Entire areas were cut from the game or scaled down.
Game was supposed to be set in ashen wasteland with multiple paths. instead we got Corridor Souls.

>Anor Londo
it's literally two rooms.
>Bosses got shuffled around to the point they made no sense.
what

>Corridor souls
DS3 has the best level design of any Dark Souls game bar none.

>rolling simulator
>right

post characters who did nothing wrong
I'll start

>no no no I don't WANT any gameplay
>give me gimmick bosses like Ancient Wyvern and Bed of Chaos
>aaaah that's the stuff

>what
Oceiros (or Angel of Dragons as he was called in the alpha phase) was the boss of the Gods' Grave area that got cut from the game.
Gundyr was actually the boss of the Consumed Garden (hence all the mutated pus enemies there) and the former King of Lothric.
Yhorm (known as Halleck) was the tutorial boss instead of Gundyr.
Wolnir was the giant of the Profaned Capital. Possibly a covenant/boss like Nito in DaS1.
But once Gods Grave was cut, they just shuffled the bosses around without giving a fuck.

Everything but POISE

>Oceiros (or Angel of Dragons as he was called in the alpha phase) was the boss of the Gods' Grave area that got cut from the game.
>Gundyr was actually the boss of the Consumed Garden (hence all the mutated pus enemies there) and the former King of Lothric.
Oceiros was made the former King of Lothric who became consumed studying the dragons and their sorcery. It perfectly fits with Lothric abandoning its duty in linking the fire precisely due to the scholars corrupting the royal family.

because they rewrote the plot

and it fits? so it sounds like the bosses do make sense.

Does anyone disagree though?

>too linear
>mostly uninspired level design
>awful colour palette/art style/piss filter
>bad weapon balance (fast R1 essential pre-DLC)
>shit for invasions
>soulless cash grab made due to contractual obligations
all in all meh/10 but still a good game for non-souls standards.

Undead settlement is literally perfect.

It plays incredibly smoothly and has the best graphical fidelity of the series [albeit with a slightly more limited art direction and re-use of bloodborne designs/assets], however I think it's weak points are some overall area design and enemy placement. DS3 just seems to love open areas, bland castles, and groups of enemies if not full-on crowds. There's a lot of nitty-gritty discussion in mechanical changes like poise and such, honestly I'm not really versed in the technical things enough to give any real impression on that but I can say that I found the encounters in DS3 with enemies that fight like players to be a lot less satisfying or interesting than similar concepts in the other games and generally a bit annoying to deal with, my interest in PVP is minimal though so that may affect it.

Makes no sense for Oceiros to be in a level swarming with Pus of Men enemies.
They just took the dragon enemy, shoved him into Gundyr's boss room and said "ummm Lothric was into dragons n shieeeet"

there is no reuse of bloodborne assets

Undead Settlement is fucking garbage

Everything

im about to start playing ds3 after beating ds1 two months ago
any tips? what build is the best? im kind of casual

>gave his life so his loli could paint
What a hero

>did nothing wrong

Nigga did nothing, period. People barely even knew who the fuck the dude was.

i'm currently only in my third playthrough and i'm fucking bored because this run feels like my first run because the game forces you to go down the same road
and build variety was better in ds2

Lothric Knight Sword. It's fairly boring but it's inarguably the best weapon. Any infusion is great but I personally went a dex build with Sharp Lothric Sword.

It's not really dark souls it's more bloodborne with how flinchy the combat was
Not a fan!

>what went so right?

The bastardization of the combat to make it a bargain bin Bloodborne sure wasn't one of those things.

Any straightsword will outclass any other weapon unfortunately different poise system really hurts slower weapons and really encourages one type of playthrough

Let's up the ante here.

>the stoic slave knight who survived until the end of the world, on a journey he knew he wouldn't survive, then sacrificed his own body so others might live
>did nothing
Sorry Dark Souls isn't a shounen anime.
