Why does everyone hate Final Fantasy II?
Why does everyone hate Final Fantasy II?
Its Star Wars
Niggers
I strongly feel that this answer is the closest to the truth.
it's a pleb filter, just like 8 and 7r.
More on rails/less freedom than 1 and 3, more grinding necessary, trash revolving door of 4th party members and a few other problems.
The absolute trash character growth system. Anyone who tells you otherwise or that it's not that bad has never played the original version.
they never played it and just bandwagon on the opinion
When I play it I just feel like I'm playing a rushed bad SaGa game.
uninteresting story and characters
terrible gameplay
better than 1, 3 and 4 really
Know how I can tell you haven't played III?
I liked the PSP remake, I guess it's because it corrects a lot of things that were wrong with the original. Also I like Firion a lot for some reason. Maybe it's because of Dissidia though.
This. And not just because "hurr punch myself" meme, it's just poorly balanced and forces repetition. Why would you even want to learn new spells if you're going to have to grind for them to be useful, when you could just keep blasting enemies with the same spell you learned in the first few minutes of the game?
Played the PSP version. Character progression was interesting, but hampered by slog level design.
It was a prototype for the SaGa series
Because they read someone else say that it's bad and just reflexively agreed
Friendly reminder that Ace Attorney is a fujoshi series and that Kumiko Suekane fought to make Edgeworth a hot young man so hard she made the development team of AA1 read BL manga.
Based
I don't, close the thread
Because he didn't complain about the mini segments?
It's my favorite, actually. The stat reward system is immensely satisfying when you get at least one reward for almost every battle. All the characters start as mostly the same blank slate so you can over the course of the game customize them how you want. Also the story of the Emperor and his dealings with Hell are pretty cool too.
Because as you level up the spells it gets more powerful and you can see an increase in damage over the long term. Versus in a traditional FF fire 1 being totally useless once you learn fire 2, and fire 2 being totally useless once you learn fire 3. You can take fire all the way to 16 if you want and be a real magical beast.
They got filtered, same reason Zig Forums can't into SaGa
You just explained the opposite of what I said. Fire leveling up on its own via usage is what prevents me from getting excited to get new spells. All I need is Fire. Not Fire3/Firaga, not Flare, not Ultima, just Fire. At least in a traditional FF when I get Fire3/Firaga it's exciting to discover a way to learn a new spell and see something new. In FF2 it's just Fire's numbers going up. Forever.
It's got a weird levelling system with weapons from the 15 minutes I played it
It's also kinda unmemorable in general
Its Ff9 birthday today. 20 years old
Same reason they hate Donkey Kong Country. It's too hard for them.
weird as hell leveling system
not to mention that evasion is the god tier stat but you wouldn't know it unless you looked it up.
wrong thread?
Think about SaGa real quick. Think about how that leveling and stat system doesn't force you to do retarded shit and it makes sense in the context of your gameplay choices.
Now imagine the literal beta of that concept where it's retardedly flawed and not that fun to play.
Seriously, just put on a shield and light armor and you can waltz through the whole game untouched. I wish other games made evasion so GOAT
yeah, I should try that and give FF2 a fair chance.
Of all the FFs I hate (2, 8, 12, and 15) I feel like I should give at least 2 a fair chance.
PSP is the definitive version, give that one a chance.
time to find a working torrent
You can easily grab it off romhustler
Firion is the big gay.
cool
I had a very, very good time with it semi-ironically. Often an unintentionally hilarious game, would replay maybe.
I feel like the main issue with the game at the time was you didn't get to pick what job class the heroes are, and you go through a bit of the game with your fourth member missing. so compared to the first one where you had all your members from start and you got to pick their roles, just feels like a downgrade. those were my problems with it atleast at the time when I was young.
