the german infantry engagement was centered around machine gun tactics; germans tended to have very technologically advanced MG's, but older tech rifles.

american infantry engagement was centered around rifle and SMG tactics; americans tended to have less technologically sophisticated MG's and better rifles

This. Germans were all about the MG34 and the grenades. The bolt guns were just there to provide some cover fire while the machine gun was either reloading or advancing.

The problem is Post Scriptum does NOTHING to enforce this so every time you join a server it's always faggots spreading out all over the map trying to get sniper kills and not doing anything useful. I wish I refunded this game while I still could

>DUDE PS is much more realistic than HLL
*buy PS*
>garbage maps, all look the same
>no semblance of any frontlines as its just rallies and moblie spawn points trying to flank the enemy team
>this means enemies can come out of anywhere leading to frustration because there is no sense as to where the enemy could be coming from
yea nah this game is far from great. at HLL had more action and actual pushes despite the ease of setting up spawn points. PS is the same thing but made worse because of the wide empty maps. garbage game. i was memed.

Post Scriptum sucks.

Hell Let Loose destroys PS:

>10 FPS

Most soldiers in the war were equipped with rifles not machineguns, Forgotten Hope 2 does it right, there are only a couple of slots for machine guns and the rest of the players gets rifles, the maps are usually very open so it works.

>HLL has real frontlines!
lmao play the game for more than 20 minutes and you’ll know that it’s dominated by no mic loners and the redeploy meta.

Only the US gets semi-autos. Britain is stuck with the Lee-Enfield and the Bren.

What's a good war fps game to get into? Thanks in advance.

*rallies behind you
yea nice mil-sim LOL!

It's kinda stupid to balance the weapon distribution around historical accuracy when the game plays nothing like what an actual battle would be like.

These games are always cute to look at though, they try so hard to be accurate at very specific things and then just shit the bed completely elsewhere, and it creates this adorable game that's pretending to be hardcore and realistic, but in actuality is cartoony and inaccurate.

400k g43 rifles and 150k g41 rifles were produced vs 5 mil m1 garands

even the soviets had 1.6 mil svts

you know enough to be aware of the redeploy 'meta' but not the fact that the devs have addressed as being worked on to solve it.
Pretending to be retarded or legit ignorant, which is it for you?

The problem with Post Scriptum is that it relies on the good will of internet strangers to shape up and act like an actual WW2 squad would. This is really bad game design. There's nothing actually holding the squads together. They are just people connected via a mic channel. That's it. The reason it fails is because in real life there is a chain of command and you get fucking court martialed if you go AWOL. Any game that doesn't even attempt to simulate that cannot simulate large battles.

Well, glad I read the thread before I bought anything.

german firearms were fucking trash besides the MG42

>you know enough to be aware of the redeploy 'meta' but not the fact that the devs have addressed as being worked on to solve it.
"working on it" doesn't mean its fixed yet dingus.
In all seriousness I do think that theres a good chance that HLL will be the better game in the long run but right now it just has too many problems for me to want to play it over PS

You just described why the game is good though. It allows people who want to work together to do so without having to rely on forum badge ranks like a shitty Arma clan would.

Post Scriptum is good--if you like 2 hour matches and relying on (and having fun playing the game with) competent teammates.

I see that Bluedrake's game actually came out.
The art style is questionable.

true, but unless you have some autistic forum buddies to play with (none of my friends play games like this) your chances of getting on a good server and having a good game are like 1 in 20.

I prefer Rising Storm 2. It's not a perfect game and it's not that realistic, but at least it has some structure to the way combat works. Even when you get on a server with complete shitters you can have a decent game.

I don't want to larp as some military faggot and obey orders from some """"""iraq vet"""""" who knows the admin of the server
tacticool garbage is cancer

This.

RS2 is at least rewarding and fun. More times than not you'll have teammates that will play the objective.

Squad, PS, HLL, all would be better if they took out this fob bullshit where you can spawn anywhere behind enemy lines. i dunno how but it needs a rework, something more punishing so people are encouraged to stop zerging and dying

>your chances of getting on a good server and having a good game are like 1 in 20
Maybe in Squad but in PS ive found that you usually get teamwork more often than not, the only exceptions being free weekends or sales (like right now).

>warfare 1944
wasn't this some flash game?

why does this even exist? it just looks like ugly HLL/PS. what makes this different to the multiple options we already have?

than play whatever or however you want faggot no ones forcing you to do shit

it is

Same name but different game
Apparently it leans more to being like Battlefield 1942 than PS or HLL. Though I do think a lot of it was Bluedrake trying to put his money where his mouth was as part of his personal beef with the Squad devs.
Whatever its 10 bucks so I might give it a try for an hour.

It's historically and militarily accurate unlike Pozzfield post the shitty console spinoff Bad Company so of course it triggers nu/v/ due to being problematic, like swastikas and big fat titties

thats probably all attempts at realistic style games, with battles involving more than 10 people to be honest. unless you are playing with a bunch of larpers who want to reenact period unit composition and tactics, or you find a way to mechanically to force this, you will always get people going off to use the "best" weapon and racking up kills.

For hell let loose:
>Kar98
>good iron sights
>consistent recoil
>M1Grand
>worse irons
>very bouncy recoil

When you factor in all the elements of the game, both sides seem pretty balanced.

>lock weapon choices and cosmetics behind class levels
>takes 400+ hours to level one class high enough to use the first few cosmetics and weapons
Yeah nice game

>having cosmetics at all
There's your problem. Can't wait for HLL to get a bunch of disgusting garbage that destroys the aesthetic like what happened to Rising Storm 2 in a few years.

again, with the selective retardedness. educate yourself on the matter before you cry about it being a problem.

yeah fuck that god guy who made this shit up

What's selective about it? "We're gonna fix it later" doesn't mean it works well right now fucktard

>150k g41
they made that much of them before anyone pointing out that hey these things kinda suck

not him but the only unlock that even matters is the SL role being able to choose between a rifle or machine gun. all others are non-factors.

If that's how you want to frame this non-issue then why are you crying on about it? It's already been addressed by the devs and it's going to get 'fixed' so you're unlocking something every level, you'll get your easy cosmetic unlocks soon enough.

more quick rundown on this?

What's there to say? German infantry squads were built around their single MG42 while everyone else carried Kar 98s and MP40s.

The American infantry squad was maybe 1 Thompson, a bunch of M1 Garands, and 1-2 BARs. Firepower was dispersed rather than concentrated.
