So this game is on sale right now on Steam, and I have been wanting to buy it for a while, however, I read that the developers decided to make the stupid decision of nerfing stuff in a single player game.
My question is, should I still buy the game, or simply pirate it to punish their retarded decision? They did make a Castlevania spiritual successor that many wanted for year, but then they made a stupid decision that goes against what I believe in. Do they still deserve my money?

That's a fucking weird hill to die on, my guy. It's not like they censored something. Single player balancing happens relatively common these days and there's nothing less fun than something so overpowered that it becomes trivial to use, and makes everything else seem worse by comparison. Not even hard to get items, either, shit you can get from almost the start of the game.

It's fine if it's a post-game unlockable, but not as a normal ass item you can pick up within 30 minutes of starting the game.
I played through it at release before the overpowered stuff was nerfed, and enjoyed it. That being said, I have yet to go back to it, so my opinion could change on a second play through. It has a few issues, however so does SotN.
My biggest complaint is that the final 2 areas or so feel rushed and empty. Otherwise, the game is a solid Metroidvania that I wouldn't hesitate to put up there with the best of the genre..

The game is a knowing homage to SotN, one of the most unbalanced games in existence.
It completely boggles the mind that they would include something functionally identical to the Crissaegrim and later nerfed it.
And yes, the onus not to use busted stuff is on the player. If you lack self control in a game like this, it's entirely your fault.

It would honestly be a much better game if power scaling wasn't so fucked, you have to actively make an effort not to trivialise the game even playing blind
I'm playing it now and I don't think it's a big deal. You have plenty of busted options to break the game if that what's bothering you. Buy it, it's fun.
