Hey, my THUG2 iso runs slow on ps2 emulator (PCSX2). I've adjusted the speed settings and checked forums and most people just say "yeah some games suck on emulators." Is that really it? Some games just don't perform at speed on emulation?

Yeah. PS2 is a bitch to crack open and emulate correctly. Hell I'm pretty sure Dreamcast and N64 emulation are still in development.

Yeah, but if you want to play thug2, just download it on your PC. And also install thugpro.

PCSX2 works best on more slow games like RPG's and the like. Or that's how it was in my case.

if you're going to emulate THUG2 then do Remix in the ppsspp emulator, it has more content

Yes, this is a problem with games for all emulators. When you start to notice that some games work terribly you start to ask "maybe this is why a game that seemed to work just fine has occasional issues too." Then the question becomes "how do I play these games without issues? Is there a way to configure the emulator to not have issues?" The answer is right in front of you.

Instead of trying to emulate, just use the real thing.

I've you're serious about playing PS2 games, and not just embracing nostalgia for a couple minutes, I'd highly recommend getting a fat PS2 and setting it up with OpenPS2Loader.

Yeah. There’s two camps of emulationfags, ones that want the original hardware slowdown and ones who say “the software just isn’t there yet or your hardware sucks”. PS2 emulation hasn’t had the dev time of older consoles, so this sort of thing is to be expected. When Saturn emulation isn’t 100% yet.

Try the Gamecube version, Dolphin is by far the best console emulator for that era.
Also this too

welcome to pcsx2, where you have to fuck with the settings for 10min just to get the game working right. at least the wikia helps

It's really sad how shitty PCSX2 is and how there are no real alternatives.

i had massive problems emulating it but just messed with settings and now its perfect.

There is a real alternative. It's been there for 20 years.

I second this.

Feels great to just put in the disc and play on the couch

your cpu probably sucks, try lowering the EE setting in speed hacks it can help with toasters

nothing sad about that when it's a good emulator

Then you are trapped in 80-160 lbs CRTs with 480i or lag lcd/led. Worse yet is the hipster euro converters with extra shielding cables ($$$).

You should have a CRT if you like video games, so this is not a question or concern.

these games run like shit even on a decent cpu. Stuntman (the ps2 game) is probably the worst offender when it comes to piss poor emulation.

try tweaking the settings that change how everything gets rendered. it's been so long that I can't remember the specifics but you can get it to run a bit more consistently. if you aren't able to pull 60fps constantly don't make the game rely on hitting 60fps constantly to run, essentially.

Tony Hawk's Underground 2 is on PC. There is no reason to fucking emulate it.
Are we really this tech illiterate on Zig Forums?

PC version is inferior.

No it isn't you brainlet but I'll give you a chance to elaborate.

No need, it's implicit. PC isn't a good platform for games. Xbox version is better.

I used to be able to use speedhacks on THUG2 but some update broke it. THUG2 still runs fine like 95% of the time, just a few problems spots. THUG 1 has more slowdowns.

Oh noooooooo!
A system that can play every game at 100% system accuracy, because its PLAYING ON SAID SYSTEM, is a bad thing!

N64 isn't far off atm. Dreamcast just this past year got a big boost.

Eat dog shit, varmint.

64 isn't really a big deal because there's really not a lot of games on the console.

Play the PC version

Should have gotten a fat launch ps3... The emulation is perfect and the video output is better than ps2.
