I have a MIGHTY URGE to replay this. I had the gamecube version but want to play it online with a buddy of mine. Does the PC version do any kind of peer to peer or would we have to fuck around with private servers?

I highly recommend playing Blue Burst on the Ephinea private server. I've always found the community to be really helpful and friendly myself, but even if you don't want to interact with anyone beyond your own friend group, it's probably the best classic experience you can find on top of being super easy to set up.

The only QoL changes I can think of off the top of my head are things like group EXP so you don't have to tag enemies, and individual loot drops, neither of which sacrifice the integrity of the original experience. You could probably find some way to run your own server for an older copy of Blue Burst, but I think you'd be better off just using a private server and not worrying about the heavy lifting. Can't say it's something I've ever looked into.

What class are you guys rolling? HuCast is my main, though I haven't pushed past Episode 2 since all my buds are busy with college classes. Just can't stay away from the melee weapons in this game.

Don't. It aged like fucking milk.

Seconding Ephinea. Great server. I jump on about once or twice a week. I took a break to try out the NA PSO2, but will be going back to PSO.

Hucast main here too with RAmarl secondary.

PSU private server where/when

You could not be more wrong

Hopefully never.

I really wanted to like PSO2 but it's got such an awful fucking structure and sense of progression. Before level 35 I've cleared every area multiple times and feel like I've seen the majority of content the game has to offer besides shit like extreme missions and some of the urgent quests I haven't done. On top of that the story feels completely disjointed despite having a lot of likable characters. It literally just drops you into cutscene after cutscene with menus inbetween each, before finally letting you play a short as fuck stage.

So its just like PSO.

I really hope to play this with my husband someday

enjoy your trojans

Except PSO gameplay is satisfying on its own while PSO2 has to string you along with fetch quests and a ton of other tedious inventory shit you need to keep track of

>no idea how to approach feeding my mag
>want to give it exclusively star atomizers
>takes too fucking long finding 3 of them
>don't want to fuck up and feed it anything else

What do.

The short stages are really the worst part of 2 imo, in PSO1 you could play in the same instance for multiple hours, every PSO2 quest is 10 minutes at most

>that fucking gif
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YOU

>literally hit the attack button 3 times in the same rhythm for thousands of hours
>satisfying
I know this was the first console MMO, but Jesus fuck user.

Simple isn't inherently bad. It's satisfying and has a rhythm to it that keeps you invested and give you a feeling of "just one more," like a good arcade game. Diablo 3 is still super popular and all that game is is clicking on shit.

Download Magatama and suffer.

Literally never played endgame content.

>It's satisfying and has a rhythm to it that keeps you invested and give you a feeling of "just one more,"
Not him, but no. It doesn't. That shit wore out its welcome even faster than TTF/Endless 1 spamming did.

But I'm playing the original on GameCube.

user, you won't clear Episode 1 earlier than level 19 or 20. You don't even get the true final boss fight unless you're playing on hard mode, and you don't start seeing red drops until very hard unless you're extremely lucky. On top of that, Ultimate offers a solid reason to play through Episode 1 again just to see the visual changes.

You've got a very clean sense of progression through the difficulty levels as you move from l, ll, and lV. PSO2 expects you to level every fucking class to 75 when you're able to demolish every boss of the first three episodes SOLO in just a couple of hours. I really don't see how they're comparable in the slightest.

PSO was very good until the point you needed to grind for weapons with +50% to hit

You have shit taste and are impatient then. People lack the ability to appreciate methodical simplicity and weighted actions, that's fine. You're just one of those retarded people.

>equips Cheese Needle+50

>you don't see red drops until very hard
I found a lot of reds on hard mode drop in Forest 2. Couple of Twin Blades. Also,
>beating episode 1 at level 20
Nigger, I was getting absolutely destroyed in hard mode's forest at level 35-40. What the fuck are you talking about? How is it even possible to beat the game at 20?

It's not a plugin or anything, it's just for calculating shit.

Don't bother trying to feed with anything you can't buy.

I could have sworn Star Atomizers got added to the shop after a while, do they not get added? I was banking on that.

At a high level they can be randomly stocked.

Alright well I was just going to use them just for the first two evolutions at least since they start to become shit at that point. Gonna hang myself trying to get fourth evolution, I guarantee it.

You are better off finding a mag guide and following that precisely. Most classes can find blank mags in Mines on normal from a box drop.

Whenever I play through Episode 1 with four people we always come out almost exactly at level 20 for the final boss. I've only ever played Blue Burst on Ephinea though, so forgive me if the difficult is actually completely different. The transition from normal to hard mode is fucking brutal though, and we always get wrecked trying to switch over.

I actually looked at one and it said I had to give it to a ranger and let the ranger evolve it and then give it back to my hunter or some mentally retarded shit for the most optimal path. Is any of that crap accurate or was I reading some bait?

>The transition from normal to hard mode is fucking brutal though
You don't go from Normal to Hard after beating Normal. You go back to Normal and do all the quests and probably replay the main levels a good half a dozen times to be sure. Then you move onto Hard.

Yeah it matters. If you only care for stats then it doesnt, but if you want a mag that has optimal blasts and better abilities like Invul at low HP or Invul at blast, you need to swap between chars.

did you even make it past the forest? you stupid bitch?

>ephinia
>4 players
Well I guess that explains it. Playing solo in the original game on gamecube, I always end up being around 35-40 when I beat episode 1 the first time. Hard mode I was around 65 when I beat it.
