>dude what if Heart of Darkness but in a sand covered Dubai and instead of diamonds being mined by the enslaved population by the Belgians... it's fresh water from the aquariums and the slavers are American soldiers who got trapped there
>BRILLIANT 10/10 GOTY BEST STORY EVER!
Desert Eagle is best gun in the game, holy shit it's so fun to shoot
self insert
I haven't played that shit game so I did the winning move. Yes.
In my experience any rip-off of heart of darkness is better than the original because heart of darkness was the most boring fucking book I've ever read
>shit game
It has one of the most fun cover shooter gun fights. The guns are varied and are all fun to shoot. You don't get stuck in a location for too long. Fighting down the mall was great. Then the helicopter crash and you get to some choices which don't do shit
I opened up into the crowd and mowed them down... they killed by bro...
I've not read Heart of Darkness purely because it is apparently boring. I understand the message.
You don't read books, golem.
I get what the game was going for and I can appreciate it, but the game was giving me a lot of clues that there was a way to avoid what I was doing. I genuinely thought there was another way, and then the game was over, I looked it up and nope, no different endings or routes. I guess that was the intent, you play it the first time and you just go with the motions and then you regret it, but I feel like the game could go from a 7/10 to a 9/10 if it actually gave me options and different routes.
>I've not read Heart of Darkness purely because it is apparently boring. I understand the message.
based willfully ignorant poster
>It has one of the most fun cover shooter gun fights. The guns are varied and are all fun to shoot. You don't get stuck in a location for too long. Fighting down the mall was great.
what an embarrassing opinion
I've read the cliff notes. I'm just not that interested in it. I'm man enough to admit I've not read the 'classics'.
It was a simple and dumb game but it was elevated by doing it well AND had nice characters. The white phosphorous scene was very put in the wrong place in the game because it was showing you have 'no choice in war', then later on gives you choices in reactions to things. I would have given options before, then forced me to fire the phosphorus to reinforce that choice is an illusion.
>I've read the cliff notes. I'm just not that interested in it. I'm man enough to admit I've not read the 'classics'.
yeah because that's totally the same as actually reading the book midwit
As I said, I'm just not that interested. I read other books instead that are more to my interests. I won't read The Republic just to say I've read The Republic. I won't slog through, say, War & Peace just to say I slogged through War & Peace, when the War part is literally just listening to a guy explain how a battle was fought and the Peace is the actual interesting part of the fiction
>b-b-b-bb-ut that's the point user! to compare the two! a grand epic battle and it's really actually quite boring when explained to you, but the simple conversation is deep and engaging, that's the brilliance of Tolstoy!!!!
Great. But it's still boring to me. If I want to read about military battles, I read books designed specifically about them. So, unlike you, I'm not a poser who forces myself to read the 'classics' just to say I read them even though I forget about them or don't understand it soon after.
Sounds to me, user, you're trying to justify reading shit because you've been told you should read it, rather than forming your own opinions and likes. You do you, I guess.
I certainly feel like I am not playing a shitty game like Spec Ops
today i remind them
I haven't even read it I just think you're being a tard by basing your views on a book from the cliff notes and second hand opinions
>dude just stop playing lmao
Desert Eagle was pretty damn nice but you can only carry like two at a time and you only first get it at that area where you have no weapons.
>Fighting down the mall was great.
Yeah I loved that part. This was a surprisingly colorful and beautiful game for a 2012 shooter. Maybe it was intended as part of the deconstruction.
Always good to see this posted in these threads.
Man, i should play this again actually. It was pretty enjoyable through and through. Not 10/10, but definitely a solid 8.
EIGHT YEARS OF SEETHING
God I loved turning Walker into a villain if you didn't open up on the rescue party you did it wrong
Games should be good first, art second
8 years later Zig Forums still doesn't understand a game, that's a record
and it's still funny all these years later
Unironically yes. Better than 90% of dreck put out since or prior.
Both Kurtz and the Apocalypse Now version are underwhelming desu
remember that time spec ops shills pushed the narrative that the loading screens had literally nothing to do with the player?
haha yeah same
>GENTLEMEN. WELCOME TO DUBAI.
>tfw I just want to shoot towels IRL
Walker didn't know how good he had it....
I wish I wasn't into airsoft so maybe I didn't watch this piece of shit.
its just some tloufag seething after all the who did it better threads

Here you go faggots I'm sick of these threads watch one of the writers do a deep dive
What's the source of this, it's been posted two or three times itt
it's a book written by the same guy who delivered the talk you just linked, funnily enough. (i.e. the LEAD writer of the game)
Why do you sell the game if you don't want me to play?
LOL
multiplayer was fun
Game sucks.
ehh don't want to play it for that desu
if the game shames me for playing why doesn't it just end abruptly and say "WAR IS BAD AND YOU SHOULD FEEL BAD FOR PLAYING THIS GAME!"
wasn't it abandoned after like a week?
Conrad could actually do much worse, check out The Secret Agent
I don't know never played it lol
Theory: Dubai never happened, it’s all a PTSD dream about stuff that happened in Kabul. That’s why the story is so wild and all over the place.
You're not supposed to not play the game, where the fuck does that keep coming from?
The only source I can find is like a Kotaku article from way back when where the writer agrees it's an ending if you want it to be
it was a fun week.
>dude, it was all just a dreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeam
how fucking boring lmao, isn't that what they tell you not to do in high school english class?
He dies after the heli crash.
>all these fags that keep defending the game
You know you have blood on your hands, right?
Which heli crash?
>Do you feel like a hero yet
Yes
Middens did it better, you either pick up the talkative revolver and proceed to shoot the fuck out of everyone in the Rift then yourself, or put down the game and aren't subjected to subpar gameplay.
Annoyed me that the guns you had in the cutscenes were not the same as the ones you had during the gameplay section.
>Says the game isn't blaming the player outright
I guess that's that then
I thought it sucked ass because Apocalypse Now is one of my favorite movies ever. It doesn’t hold a candle to Apocalypse Now.
