I'm very tired of a particular subset of gamers claiming that themes like homosexuality, feminism, race relations, etc. are too politically charged and don't belong in video games, but themes like rape, sexual harassment, regressive/traditional (depending on your perspective) gender roles, etc. are fair for game developers to include. It's a twisted kind of gatekeeping to say that sexuality is political but rape isn't. It's inherently political when a game developer decides to indulge in outdated stereotypes about gay/bi men as predators (Crassius). It's inherently activist when one of the major creative forces behind a major game series writes a roleplay fanfiction wherein he (acting as Vivec) forces himself on Azura. Just because they're things you're comfortable with from a narrative stance, doesn't mean that they're politically neutral, and removing those elements isn't inherently activist no matter how uncomfortable it makes you.

anyone who supports censorship should burn in Hell. censoring via cutting parts of the product under the motivation that for X Y and Z it will be beneficial butchers the product by removing key parts of it. incorrect. it is censorship due to him removing parts of the game (sounds, images, texts etc does not matter) under the motivation that some people will benefit from it. appeal to emotion is justified afterwards to deter any criticism (rape is bad - you cannot argue with that otherwise you will be called a rape supporter). as for the "you're free to not use it" argument it does not mean it is not censorship - the difference between you are free to not use it and you are forced to use it is the amount of power the person who makes these changes has and in our case they cannot enforce it. if they could it is my firm belief that they would.
