There's that small indy project started by a guy I don't remember, made some space game in the past.
It only have some nice concept art and pre-rendered video for now but I'm sure it will get better once it release.

X3 quickly becomes more about being an economy simulator than an arcadey space game, though. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it doesn't quite scratch the same itch.
