was this disappointment konami's or kojima's fault?
Was this disappointment konami's or kojima's fault?
>disappointment
lol
both
100% Konami.
It was a total clusterfuck.
both of them but mostly kojima
>Disappointment
Arguable
>Who's fault is?
Kojima, no doubt about it. He should have ended MGS after 4.
Kojima ran out of ideas after MGS3. Understandable, he'd worked on 5 games in the series by that point.
>It was a total clusterfuck.
In what sense? the game sold over 6m and there are a lot of people who are still playing it.
Might as well post it here, I’m playing the game for the first time. Why did I just instantly fail mission 9 before I could even leave the helicopter?
It could be a lot of reasons. You abort the mission before Miller tells you the job is done or you didn't destroy any vehicle.
>In what sense?
By the reception of the fanbase and as a sendoff of a 30+ year old mega-classic series.
It's a literally unfinished game, with tons of lazy copypasta filler used as a padding for the gaps.
No one cares. Konami wants to save money and Kojima hates his fans and his former employee.
So you are the entire MGS fanbase? Majority of fans loved it.
I blame Konami, although it was probably a mixture of Kojima being unwilling to reign in his more self-indulgent impulses (the signs were starting to show in MGS4) and Konami pushing for a more accessible experience (turning MGSV into a soulless ubisoft-style open world game). MGSV is a disaster and lacks everything that made Metal Gear such a great and memorable series, although I'll concede it does have the best gameplay and graphics of the series (to be expected as it's newest gen). I was so disappointed with it I couldn't even bring myself to finish it, despite MGS 1-3 being my favorite games of all time.
>Majority of fans loved it.
[citation needed] sure, game journalists loved it, and casual gamers loved it. everyone I know who loved MGSV has never even played any of the other metal gear games.
>It's a literally unfinished game
LOL, no, the game is over 30 hours. Yes, the fight against Liquid is missing but the history delivered.
>with tons of lazy copypasta filler used as a padding for the gaps
You're describing 99% of modern gaming. Or at least games made in the past decade.
Majority of fans loved the gameplay. Not the utter garbage story.
Kojima's, he is a seasoned director.
How is this Konami's fault?
>Well sure user everyone loved it, but my imaginary friends who loved it never played other MGS games, therefore the fanbase actually hated it
Sounds like a bug, all the vehicles haven't even spawned whenever you drop into the field. Never encountered that so can't help you. Does that happen repeatedly, or only once so far?
>Konami wants to save money
MGS5:GZ covered over 50% of the MGSV's costs, and the TPP sold like hotcakes as well. There was zero reason to stop the development mid-way and push out an unfinished butchering of what could've been the undeniable game of the decade, besides the boomer execs being tired of the creative souls not making cheap and quick mobile shit for them.
>Majority of fans loved it.
Huge fucking citation needed.
why are you an apologist for the dumpster fire that is MGSV? where were the memorable boss battles? deep story and exceptional writing? signature sense of humor? gameplay that felt actually tied to events happening in the story and gave you a sense of progressing the plot? it doesn't feel like a metal gear game.
>So you are the entire MGS fanbase? Majority of fans loved it.
Yes and Dead Space 3 is a great game, Mass Effect 3 has amazing ending, Final Fantasy 8 is hated, Wrath of the Lich King is the best expansion and Last of Us 2 has great story. Fucking retard.
>LOL, no, the game is over 30 hours.
Does not mean that the last 2/3rds would not be literally unfinished, even missing. Hell, even shown and promised content, like MB customization and return to GZ are no longer in the game.
Lack of quality has never been an issue in MGS series, but V is literally anti-Metal Gear, through and through.
Both. Konami should have let the series die and Kojima is the living definition of a broken clock.
Reminder that these threads are either being made by or stalked by a MGSV apologist who has spent the last two weeks blindly arguing in favor of the game's shit story and cut content.
kind of both
>kojima planned development out poorly, wasted time and money
>konami rushed it out instead of delaying it
It seems to be working fine now, just a one time thing it seems
retard
literally everyone in the thread disagreeing with you
it is konami's fault 100 percent
everytime a game needs more time the publisher says no and forces it out through the door and you know what happens
>why are you an apologist for the dumpster fire that is MGSV?
I am not, the game lacked a lot of aspects which none of them were told by you.
>where were the memorable boss battles?
Neither MGS2, MGS4 or Ghost Babel have them
>deep story and exceptional writing?
LOL, Kojima was never deep, he is a concept writer, nothing more.
>signature sense of humor?
The burgers of miller covered that. Also, i loved the depressive tone.
Konami fired Kojima because he is an idiot who cannot meet deadlines and can’t stick to a fucking budget.
Nope only people who never played another MGS game before or who hated the other games liked it
It barely even resembles MGS anymore in writing style, presentation, or tone
With the mountain of retcons it makes and how pointless the story is in the grand scheme of things V might as well be noncanon it makes no difference
>game is beloved and has positive reviews from both users and critics everywhere
>the fanbase hated it because few autists on mongolian throat singing forum said so
so pathetic
you are retarded if you like this half finished game. kojima fags are worse than smash toddlers
>No you don't GET it man it's supposed to be shit!
>It's like a real Phantom Pain, get it?!
V apologists are brain damaged
If you think this was Kojima's fault just remember that Metal Gear Survive was made solely by Konami.
Also Kojima is a hack and faggot who's denied by his own son
30% kojima, 70% konami
konamis the boss, they should have canned his ass when it was clear he wasn't progressing.
choke on a horse dick faggot
>where were the memorable boss battles?
>Neither MGS2, MGS4 or Ghost Babel have them
This is your brain on MGSV delusion.
>MGS2 Fatman
>MGS2 Harrier
>MGS2 Vamp
>MGS2 AI Ray battalion
>MGS4 Rex vs. Ray
>MGS4 Snake vs. Liquid Ocelot
>Lack of quality has never been an issue in MGS series
Try to play MGS2 skipping all cutsenes, or even 4 doing the same and lets see how much gameplay is there.
Lmao anti-MGSVfags seething hard ITT
Sure, it feels somewhat empty at times and the story is kinda meh, but from a gameplay standpoint it stands up quite well. I got 400+ hours out of it.
I would love an mgs 1-4 remakes with mgsv controls on pc
pretending MGSV is a bad game is the most annoying Zig Forums try-hard contrarian meme of all time
yikes
>>MGS2 Fatman
A literal copy of Vulcan Raven
>>MGS2 Harrier
Agree, that's kino
>>MGS2 Vamp
LOL
>>MGS2 AI Ray battalion
Aim, shoot, move. Aim, shoot, move. Oh, yes, memorable
>>MGS4 Rex vs. Ray
Agree
>>MGS4 Snake vs. Liquid Ocelot
Corny but agree.
>Majority of fans loved the gameplay.
I guess I am in the minority. I loved the tight controls of Venom but hated the overall gameplay because it was empty pointless open world with recycled missions, bad AI and difficulty so easy I had to deliberately limit myself and not use weapons / companions to not make it too boring. There was also a single boss fight recycled throughout the game + metal gear fight. I just don't see the good gameplay.
Oh, I see that you're just a false flagging fake MGS fan. Not going to bother discussing this with you anymore MGSV loving zoomer faggot
>the majority of MGS fans love V because i simply pulled this data point out of my ass with literally nothing to back it up
again, fuck off faggot
I have over a thousand hours.
>MGS2 Fatman
>A literal copy of Vulcan Raven
How is Fatman's fight in anyway like Vulcan Raven's boss fight?
6 years and 80 million dollars just to party with Hollywood actors and release a game, in two parts, that is still unfinished.
Kojima. Anyone who says Konami is a retard.
The issues the game’s story and open world structure have are both of their faults.
Kojima is not perfect and it’s really tiring that all the fans act as if he made the games himself. Thousands of people poured their time and passion into all these titles, and Konami holds as much to be respected for as Kojima just as they share all the blame.
sure buddy, a bunch of contrarian Zig Forumsedditors are totally representative of the series entire fanbase
And I disagree with you
>Neither MGS2
Fat Man, Harrier, Vamp, Solidus.
By following the same pattern of moving around cargo.
Still a better game than MGS4.
>false flagging fake MGS fan
LOL, the true gamer argument? go back to twitter and keep posting dog memes.
Don't forget Solidus
probably kojima's fault is for wanting a hollywood blockbuster budget for a metal gear solid game which he intended to end the franchise
>You don't run from him because LOS isn't instant death
>You don't use explosives like claymores and the Nikita/Stinger
>You must unbalance him and then aim for the head
>Have to deal with bombs he plants
Again, how is this like Raven?
>Solidus
>Hey, bro, i'm gonna free the world form the patriots and shieeeet also... i killed your parents so lets have an unnecessary boss fight.
Uh... kino department?
>metal gear series
>exceptional writing
fucking kek
...
>A literal copy of Vulcan Raven
I don't like when people use literal in literally wrong sense.
>LOL
Amazing fight vs amazing character butchered by MGS4.
>Aim, shoot, move. Aim, shoot, move. Oh, yes, memorable
You clearly remember it. Pretty good for a game from 2001.
They're the same fags that think a walking sim is game of the year, what do you expect?
>You dont press 4 buttons, you press 5. That's totally different.
The amount of cope.
