>he unironically linked the fire
what a fucking idiot
>he unironically linked the fire
what a fucking idiot
i'd rather link the fire than be the king of giant talking dicks
kys kaathenigger
I literally didn't know that you didn't have to until nearly a decade after I beat it.
I had no idea what was going on during my first playthrough. Of course I linked it.
Bro Dark Souls 1 came out in 2011 are you from the future or just bad at math?
2020 is more than half over, dumb parrot poster.
Nearly
a decade.
Dark Souls came out in 2011.
It's 2020. Almost 10 years after it first came out. I didn't learn this until recently.
You assume I'm bad at math but in reality I'm just stupid.
>souls games take place during the age of fire in decline
>chaos is what happens when the first flame gets out of control
>the abyss is what happens when humanity/the dark gets out of control
>we never actually see what the age of dark looks like apart from a brief glimpse of dark firelink in DS3
I always thought it was a shame that we never get to see an age where humans got to rule, a darkness/humanity themed dark souls game would be a neat contrast to the glorious high fantasy age of fire
I accidentally didn't do it because I wanted to see what else I could do before ending the game so I walked away.
>he didn't link the fire
OH NO NO NO NO
Why wouldn't you do that in the first Dark Souls?
When I first played it I thought the legend of the undead was the right (and only) path and that Gwyn actually wanted meant good with his actions.
That obviously changed with Dark Souls 3.
Imagine being an edgenigger.
It'll never happen now since Gwyn is an Egomaniac and fucked everything up
stopped paying attention to the lore in 2014. Did we learn what these guys were?
Same here.
I did both ending linking the fire is canon. But Kaathe sees you as a pawn as well. It's weird how they're both so eager and in your face about using you. Frampt doesn't even tell you that you die he just says you become the new Lord.
I'm pretty sure both the age of fire and the age of man has occurred countless times because it's an infinite cycle, at least that's how I understood the DS2 lore; that's why there's no choice whether to link the first flame or not if you sit upon the throne of want, it literally doesn't matter
On my first playthrough, I killed Gwyn in some corner of the arena and didn't even notice the bonfire that appears in the center. So I just turned 360° and walked away.
>at least that's how I understood the DS2 lore
It's not infinite and DS2 is pretty much non canonical.
n-no, you!
it doesn't matter because ds1 is the only canon game
I too wish that were the case but even the premise of Dark Souls 3 is centred around the idea that the cycle has been repeated countless times
I might be off with my lore but I had shitty headcanons for my first Dark Souls characters. All of them had the same name because they are all descendants of the same bloodline.
DAS1 Protagonist linked the fire feeling it was his duty to prolong the age of men.
DAS2 Protagonist refused the crown searching for a new way to become non hollow because he hates royalty
DAS3 felt the opposite of DAS1 Protag and needed the age of fire to end since it was inevitable.
I usually choose the dark ending because I parry Gwyn near the boss entrance and it's quicker than running down to the bonfire.
Yes, it has been repeated countless times but the linking can be interrupted.
In DS3 you can stop it in two endings and if you failed your mission maybe ''the Deep'', the deep ocean thing, would've have took overt the world.
>I had no idea what was going on during my first playthrough. Of course I linked it.
The player get scammed by Frampt and Gwyndolin.
why even link the fire bro haha its basically the cause of your suffering just let it die out lmao like who cares if we let the feast begin xD
Actually, I did it completely ironically, you dumb fucking slithernigger.
>tfw we will never get deep sea souls
>stopped paying attention to the lore in 2014. Did we learn what these guys were?
No. DS3 added almost nothing and raised more questions than answers. We saw Primordia serpent statues in 3 and that's it. And the only good 3 did was show us that Gwyn's first borne is not Solaire.
>Frampt doesn't even tell you that you die he just says you become the new Lord.
Both tell you half-truths and you need to speak to both to get the full picture. He says you will be the new Lord to replace Gwyn, and Gwyn is currently burning his soul to power the universe and you get to do the same. Oh and you don't die. You get to stay in the Kilm of the First flame and have your soul burn off for a thousand years.
the nameless king and pontiff being absolute chads is the only good thing to come out of DS3 lore-wise
>beat Gwyn
>don't notice the bonfire and instead run around the perimeter of the room not knowing what to do next
>eventually leave the room
>Dark Lord
based
I don't know about ''never''.
Let's be serious here: does anyone here think that Bamco and FROM will let the Dark Souls brand just die this decade?
I think the release of DS4 is inevitable.
Well, the Ringed City tells the players more about the relationship between Gwyn and the pygmies.
>Untended Graves shows the age of the dark is just a shittier version of the age of ancients, but with no dragons and you can't see shit, not the edgy darkwraith LARPer fantasy
Why the fuck would anyone listen to Kaathe?
who the fuck cares it's literally mass effect 3 level of chose your ending
Frampt never deceives you. It should be really obvious that "succeeding Gwyn" does not mean becoming a king and taking over his cool city even before you go to the Kiln, but after you fight him there's no excuse for still not understanding what it means to succeed Gwyn and link the fire. He just assumes you're not an idiot and that you understand that giving yourself to link the fire is a great honor.
