Fail in the sense that it would not be fondly remembered years from now as a beloved game that holds a special place in our hearts. Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls were critical and commercial successes, but they failed because they left no cultural mark. TLoU2 may endure for a time through its memes, but those are infamously mercurial. It's no Deus Ex, or Thief, or System Shock. It is not nor ever will be remembered as a hallmark in gaming, in any respect.
