So oldfags that bought it on release, how mad were you?
Metal gear
I wasn't.
I don’t remember being that mad but I was like 8
I played for a while thinking it surely would bring Snake back at some point, but when i realized he wasn't i was already in love with the game
No one was mad. It remains one of the best.
Is there really no fucking radar in MGS3? I just started it. This sucks.
Beyond mad, was blown away by the graphics. Best 20 dollars I spent at that point
I’m sorry user. You’ll have to get used to that
My only issue was that the environment basically never changes (even arsenal gear isnt TOO visually different) so as a kid I was always waiting for the next area but it never happened.
The big shell should have mixed up its visual design based on what each area/room was designed to do.
It was less of being "mad", and more of being "...the fuck did I just play?"
So I was around 14, hyped AF for MGS2, and had played the demo for like 10 times at that point (the first half of Tanker, ends before you get to the dark hallways). This was meant to be the biggest game, ever.
Then I got it, and marathoned it through during the weekend. And just felt empty. It took me ages to really realize that I just did not enjoy it. Namely, the Big Shell section. It's just so sterile, poorly paced and bizarre.
No, there's no Soliton. Tons of other tools you can find, but they come with restrictions.
Just get gud, and learn to play stealthily. It's the best game in series, and one of the greatest ever made.
MGS3 literally has a fucking baby mode third person camera you can use to look around everything in a straight line around objects.
also even on the highest difficulties the enemies are braindead and retarded. Even then on Hard and Extreme enemies don't really pose a threat to you in combat
not mad since I wasn't a brainlet. It was one of the most fucking amazing experiences back then and stilll is
Never played the first one so there was nothing to be mad over
>be 12
>3AM
>Colonel starts going apeshit talking about needing scissors and 61
Thought I dozed off and was having a nightmare
Do people just get mad about every MGS game? Seriously, what is up with this fanbase?
Split the cost with my best friend, we played an hour and returned it. Did end up renting and finishing it a while later but we were both beyond livid for months. All the other snoyfags at school didn’t want to talk to us.
that segment where raiden and snake are working together, hanging out and fighting soldiers was pretty rad
had some difficulty with the metal gear rays fight
Nah. It's just Zig Forumsirgins on Zig Forums with nothing better to do.
>stole it from a rich fag “friend” who had way today many games for a 13 year old
>got caught
>lied about having it after hiding it in my special secret spot
>got my ass beat by my parents “where the fuck is it user, WE ALL KNOW YOU STOLE IT”
>profusely denied
>beat some more until bed time
>forced to go to store to buy a copy for rich fag
>got caught playing it weeks later
>beat again
Yeah I was pretty pissed, the game was amazing though
>It's the best game in series
maybe if you only like boss battles. as a stealth game it is dogshit compared to 2.
Its the star wars of vidya.
It was disappointing when you switch to Raiden until you saw that 'Pliskin' would clown on him all game. Gameplay kicked ass. Bosses like Fatman and Solidus were neat first time around and it was fun to replay and just dick around on higher difficulties. Remember shooting pigeons and Rose getting bitchy? I had no regrets with it OP.
This desu and Kojima is lucas
No game has ever recreated this feeling for me, except maybe Undertale
Not really mad. Just sort of annoyed and confused when I finished the game expecting to switch back to Snake at some point but never did. I also remember thinking how weird and unlikely it was that I would continue playing as this random character so I was left confused that they made a whole sequel out of it. Still really liked most of the game though except the super long ending which I remember not even paying attention to at first because I lost interest. I was like 11 or something when it came out and was into anime at the time so Raiden didn’t really bother me on his own.
>all these Kojima dickriders
You can not tell me you didn't feel a twinge of annoyance that Raiden wasn't is ANY promotional screenshots or mentioned in magazines. If you were a child under 10 I guess that's understandable.
Other user described it perfect. It felt empty at the end.
Based
The NAP is a joke and anyone who believes it gets the gulag.
>maybe if you only like boss battles
You just described every MGS game since 1.
>as a stealth game it is dogshit compared to 2.
Are you for real, or just trolling?? MGS3 is literally an innawoods guerrilla-ninja simulator!
MGS2 couldn't be more straight forward action game even if it tried. It's solely responsive for turning the whole series into a First-Person Tranquilizer, with any other "tactic" literally consisting of waiting until enemy turns around so you can sprint past them.
I just moments ago started a replay of MGS3 on Extreme, and boy does it actually require you to be STEALTHY. Even more so if you plan to do the non-lethal run and not get butt-fucked behind every corner.
I hadn't played 1 so not mad at all. I was too engrossed by the awesome graphics, the fun gameplay and the thought that Raiden would get a samurai sword at some point as alluded to in the manual. I thought having Snake as a secondary character made him seem more badass as well.
You deserved it.
Only the special edition Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence and the HD remaster of Snake Eater has the third person camera. The original release has the overhead camera like MGS1 and MGS2
Zig Forums never fails to give me a chuckle when I'm browsing while taking a late-night dump
I literally had no memory card for my PS2 so I spent probably tens of hours on tanker chapter having fun, so by the time I switched to plant chapter it didn't seem so weird. And I was 10 so I didn't understand shit. The colonel in arsenal gear spooked me out bad
