>play shit loads of classicvanias
>love platformers
>decide to buy RotN on sale
>beat first boss
>game is absolute shit
does it get better? what is it about wailing on target dummies with mediocre jrpg mechanics that makes people so excited?
Why do people like this series
It's fun.
nice blog, but IGAvanias have always been superior to classicvanias.
ROTN is no exception.
>does it get better?
a lot better
it's ok, it scratched that metroidvania itch I was wanting but in the end it left me wanting more though.
>wait forever
>ok it's Zangetsu mode finally, cool
>it's a lazy metroidvania "other character" mode in that it: 1) it has no story, 2) what you start with is what you get and 3) he's not very fun
and also he is broken and has no upgrade system ,so you can just skip most areas, power level on the hardest ennemies with his insane damage and roll on the game, zangetsu runs were the shortest i ever done in this shit mode
> play shit loads of classicvanias
That was your mistake. You should have played metroidvanias and decide if you like them.
Later bosses get better.
If you want a classicvania just buy CotM, dumbass
what were you guys expecting? it was obviously just going to be Richter Mode all over again.
with how long it took to come out I was expecting something besides that.
the delay was just 505 games being incompetent as usual
>that moment where they revealed that the switch version had absolutely nothing to do with delays of making everything else
>they were just lazy as fuck the whole time
Can't wait for these nerds to get ditched.
Looks ugly.
And the off-brand quality of it really hurts it's appeal.
What's funny is the notClassicvania Bloodstained games are actually really good and Zangatsu is actually fun
>platforming is non-existent because you're expected to run through areas multiple times
>enemy mechanics are non-existent because you're expected to run through areas multiple times
>bosses and enemies just have you spam attacks on them and tank hits because of numerous ways to heal yourself
>RPG mechanics encourage grinding instead of actually playing the game for fun
>RPG mechanics trick you into thinking you're getting better when really just your character is
yeah metroidvanias sure sound like fun, user
>delay the boss revenge update for a week to "fix bugs"
>they release the update
>it introduces gamebreaking bugs
jesus christ iga i swear if you dont ditch those incompetent fucks
they are, probably my favorite genre after cuhrazee action games
Just forget David onevoice hayter voices him as snake on rotm
Does she ride that pogo stick in the episode?
you don't have to grind in any metroidvania unless you have the mental capacity of a toddler.
very bad thread, op, have a sage on the house
i wish lad
why?
I dunno, i saw some smoothbrain in the steam review page saying that he both a) had to grind on a certain part and b) enjoyed that he had to grind. Very confusing.
That's easy as hell to do since he was voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto for all of my playthroughs.
>platforming is non-existent because you're expected to run through areas multiple times
There are plenty of good platforming sections you dunce they're just spread out for the reason you mentioned.
>enemy mechanics are non-existent because you're expected to run through areas multiple times
There is more depth to enemies than in any classicvania
>bosses and enemies just have you spam attacks on them and tank hits because of numerous ways to heal yourself
lol this guy didn't fight any bosses
>RPG mechanics encourage grinding instead of actually playing the game for fun
You are never required to grind in this game unless you're a completionist
>RPG mechanics trick you into thinking you're getting better when really just your character is
Yes that is generally how RPG mechanics work.
You are literally retarded.
>they're just spread out for the reason you mentioned.
imagine playing a platformer where the platforming is spread out instead of all the time
>There is more depth to enemies than in any classicvania
yeah those squid guys at the start shoot waterballs and have that slow mid-air drill attack but none of it matters when the game lets you spam attacks on them once you get close range and they just die easier than the zombies in Castlevania 1
>lol this guy didn't fight any bosses
First boss sits there for 15 seconds letting you hit her when she's at the edge of the ship and then when she switches to shoot the water jet just stands there for five or so seconds letting you hit her before she uses it
>You are never required to grind in this game unless you're a completionist
see >Yes that is generally how RPG mechanics work.
That doesn't argue why they're good user, you're just accepting them as they are.
You are literally retarded.
>imagine playing a platformer where the platforming is spread out instead of all the time
I just wanna expand on that because i hit post a little too fast, saying "the platforming is spread out" is just admitting that 75% of the game is padding that doesn't actually matter. I'd rather have a 4hour 2D action platformer where every screen is a challenge than a 16hour 2D action platformer where only 25% of the screens are a challenge. You're just wasting your fucking time, user.
>sexiest shard is also the best one
what did they mean by this?
>jiggle physics disabled for miriam herself
they also nerf her chunky thighs when you transform
It should be a crime.
More mods when?
fpbp
/thread
what are some good mods, user?
Jiggle.
Fixing the portraits.
Making active effects like Money is Power or the wallfinding one more subtle.
Shanoa and Aradia, if the discord gets off their lazy asses!
