Why didn't you guys tell me that this was a straight up masterpiece?
Why didn't you guys tell me that this was a straight up masterpiece?
I didn't even play the retail version, I was a tester for this and it burned me out.
The best platformer ever and a fantastic setting and story.
Hollow knight is better in every single way and doesn't force you to spend numerous tedious grueling hours traversing from one side of the map to the other
>The best platformer ever
>Deepnest
Nigga wut? It is a metroidvania which tries to be a souls-like whatever, most of the game is spent traversing the map and getting abilities to traverse some more.
Hollow Knight is a great game that has almost nothing in common with Rain World and there's absolutely no reason you shouldn't play both
We did. Where the hell have you been?
and most of rainworld is dodging the one-shot rng enemies while looking for rng food before the rng timed rain kills you for exploring too much
>metroidvania
>souls-like
Go back.
It's been mentioned.
>Hollow knight is better in every single way
that's a shaky opinion seeing as the games are so different
>Hollow knight doesn't force you to spend numerous tedious grueling hours traversing from one side of the map to the other
Now that's a straight-up lie
Go back to your mom ass? No, thanks.
you just listed 3 things that give Rain World it's unique tension and make finding shelter so relieving and rewarding
This.
Didn't like it very much. I get why people enjoy it and I think it does a few things really well, but its downsides are too grave for me to look past them.
Absolutely zoomin'.
?
Did you beat it? You should make sure to at least get to the ending because it can take a long time to click into place. It's not that it gets better after 13 hours or whatever, but you gain a better perspective on why the game is the way it is.
What's this game about?
It's a cinematic survival platformer. You're a slugcat, a creature somewhere in the middle of the food chain, and you're alone in a big hostile world.
please don't tell me ironic masterpiece posters baiting for critique are going to ruin comfy rainworld threads too
Eating and sleeping.
What downsides?
Noodles
You're a pipe cleaner and you have a need to clean.
TRUE OPINION: This is one of those games you might not like at first. But it's good my dude, go try and finish it and trust.
No one has actually sat down with this game for the first time and said, "Yeah, this is one of my favorites." They always drop it, come back a month later, and then realize that it's a masterpiece.
Not the same user, but do I really have to drag neuron flies from 5Pebbles all the way back to Moon through Leg, Crypts, Citadel and all that bullshit? Because if so I really don't wanna keep going. Barely got to the beginning of 5Pebbles with my sanity intact, and I don't know if I wanna go through climbing it back up again.
i wish someone would make a game like rain world but more palatable for the retarded masses. RW proves games can be really meaningful experiences but its so fucking difficult.
Not him, but I've played the game a bit, it's really mentally exhausting. It has that sort of shmup like quality where you technically can survive after a death or two, but dying even once costs you a ton of momentum. You also have to keep a ton of the map in your head at once- the in-game map only covers so much. It's not strictly a downside but it's so exhausting I can only stand to give it a shot every month or two.
I beat it on "normal", but I haven't tried the "hard" mode. I honestly think I would have liked it a lot better if I hadn't gone into it blind and knew about all of the advanced movement techniques beforehand. I also didn't encounter that one lady on my playthrough so I missed out on that as well.
>Karma grinding for gates
>World traversal was boring (until I got the sticky insect)
>Nothing to teach you about advanced movement techniques (I didn't know about them until after I beat the game)
>You're spending almost the entire game wandering without having any goals to work towards
>Game felt very repetitive after a while
I loved the game from the start. I did have to take breaks after getting fucked in the ass a few cycles in a row, but these only lasted an hour or two. Also, the problems i was having were basically removed from the game too.
