No, it took me maybe fifteen times. I only summoned for bosses that don't seem to be that fun. Twin Demons/Demon Prince was one of them. Don't regret it either.

I summoned NPCs for Pontiff and Friede. Summoned players for Nameless King and Gael.

I've never summoned except for npc storyline progression, and never on first playthrough.

people actually summon in dark souls? what even is the point, you didnt really beat the boss. i guess you can coop with friends to try wanky 1shot stuff but you shouls solo all bosses at least once..

There are no NPC summons and I was playing a pirated copy.
I also made a point to solo Gael, but that was basically a lore sperg thing because I wanted it to be one-on-one and reasoned that everyone else was already dead at that point.

No, I've only summoned for one boss in all souls games and it was the demon Prince. I was just not in the mood at the time and hated the fight.

I only leave a mark to help people and to familiarize myself with the boss.

One of the reasons people struggle so badly on the boss is if they play on Console.

Between the Fog and Lighting particle effects your FPS dips and thus becomes secretly harder.

Combined with the jank camera and it's more difficult than it actually is.

He's only aggressive when you're up close. When you're further away, all he does is slowly walk toward you and do wind blasts. You can easily kill him by just backpedaling and shooting arrows, crossbows, firebombs, magic, whatever.
