It's a solid game, but I honestly think that if the series hadn't shit the bed after TTYD, people's opinions of it wouldn't be so glowing today. Not because it's bad, but because we'd have later Paper Mario games that are just as good or better. It's only well regarded because they didn't bother to try anymore after it, not because it's a masterpiece in and of itself.
