Is that the dude from the pest?

yeah it's Johnny Legs

Yes lol i always refer to john leguizamo as the pest

I see you like CHEEEESE

>Mario's last name

Yeah it's okay, its kind of slow in parts but definitely pretty memorable

I just checked the date this movie came out it came out less than a year when I was born.

>Leguizamo and Hoskins were so over the production's tormented run that they started drinking scotch on set to pass the time and make the dark days go by a little easier. But as luck would have it, on one of the days they were kicking back shots they were called onto set to shoot a scene where they had to drive the Mario Bros. plumbing van. Leguizamo was reportedly feeling the effects of that day's boozing and was a little shaky behind the wheel. When the directors yelled "Action!" he slammed the accelerator, and then quickly slammed on the brake. The van's sliding door slammed shut on Hoskins' right hand. Hoskins had to wear a flesh-toned cast that can be seen at various points throughout the film.

It's a decent family flick if you see it as some alternate universe Mario and not a live action adaptation of the games like people expected

pure kino

It wasn't awful.

It's a fun shlock film but don't start claiming it's a misunderstood masterpiece.

I own the extended cut.

I like it too. Was this the real Mario all along?

Still waiting for the sequel teased in the last scene.

elaborate.

it's a second or third assembly of the film, it's missing a lot of scenes that made it into the final film but it has a lot of deleted material, some of it is on Youtube.

>The movie opens with daisy's mom in the rain, there is no animated prologue
>Mario and Luigi actually confront the Scapelli plumbers and lose the job
>Koopa de-evolves the technician which explains the puddle of goop that suddenly appears in the scene
>the Car chase sequence is three times as long and features WAY more car crashes and mayhem
>Lena dips in the mud bath with Koopa before iggy and spike show up
>Iggy and Spike show up in the scene where koopa tries to kiss Daisy only to get yelled and beaten up by Koopa
>Iggy and Spike have a whole subplot dedicated to their defection which ends at a unironic rap song number at the boom boom bar and them showing up at the celebration at the end of the movie
>the scene where they go back to brooklyn and the dimentions merge is way longer and more coherent, basicaly they cut everything out of that scene that isn't the monkey gag
>when koopa gets deevolved into ooze the pizza delivery boy shows up and throws the pizza at him
>unironic large-scale dance party sequence after koopa gets deevolved, which only survived as a couple shots in the movie
And other bits and pieces of dialog/subplots that they ARD'd away or just plainly cut out. And it's still not all, as the screenplay hints at even more scenes that were shot and were cut very early on. but unfortunately little footage has come out of it.

The extended cut has the pay off for the pizza joke? I Better pick it up

Woah who the heck are these imposters Luigi?

i think i still own the vhs: it really isn't a good movie but it's still incredibly enjoyable to watch. i feel like that, in today's climate of entire industries run by committees and a "let's play everything safe and appealing to the mid-level consumer" attitude, the super mario bros. movie's atmosphere being for the most part unrelated to the actual game is its biggest strength

no fucking way that they would approve something like this in 2020, "blade runner but with mario's characters" is something too unique to not love in my opinion

I own the steelbook blu ray, it's pretty fucking sick, though it's region locked which is balls

So do I.

When I was little I'd need this movie on to fall asleep at night. Must've watched it thousands of times. And somehow my parents never deduced that I had autism.

mario if he real

I'm sure I saw a snipped of the extended Koopa in Brooklyn scene. He fires the gun at a skyscraper and it turns into a rock or something (memory is hazy).

you're probably thinking of waterworld or land of the dead lmao

Nah, definitely remember seeing it. Happened after the scene where he turns the mayor into a chimp.

i honestly want to snag that one time that i have the chance, it looks pretty nice

It's unexpectly soulful: didn't went the safe kiddie route and instead goes full cyberpunk weirdness. The directors were nuts and fucked up the filming, but Hoskins and Hopper are a perfect casting. Remember that live-action Mario was pic related at the time.

We all know that the coming animated Mario movie is going to be full cringe Ilumination Studios because Hollywood always see bombing movies and try to do the exact same opposite instead of learning from the good parts and improved it.

i knew some drone would make this post before i even opened the thread.
