All are good. VP is my personal favorite.

All of them, though OG Wild Arms is really fucky in some ways. You can tell the devs on it had very little RPG experience.

Suikoden 2 is one of the best games ever made. And the villain is elder god tier.
But getting the best ending without a guide on a first playthrough is slim. But the normal ending is still good so its no deal breaker

Xenogears is unfinished and the second disc is a clusterfuck. First disc is Evangelion fanfiction.

VP is a great game, but very niche and limited. Also even more of a case of needing a guide if you dont want multiple playthroughs than Suikoden 2

Wild Arms is a meme.

>which one of those do you think are worth a playthrough?

Those are all highly praised JRPGs, everyone is going to say all of them, which would be true. Out of them Suikoden 2 is my personal favorite.

Never played Wild Arms, but the other 3 are definitely worth playing. Suiko II is my favorite.

What's your problem with Wild Arms?

see
I love the idea but its just clunky and mismanaged to hell and back. You can just tell its a first attempt.

I dont hate it, but this is Zig Forums so I'm of course exaggerating in my description.

I need to replay this for the 2125th time.

Its just maximum comfy. Especially the character side quests and music.

I used to have a sealed PSX copy of the game up until a few years ago when it magically vanished during moving.

I see. I think it's worth playing because of its obvious inspiration it took from the Lufia games. I wish more jrpg would follow that formula. And the plot is as 90s anime as it gets.

Who owns the rights to the Wild Arms franchise? Why hasn't Sony just bought them out already so they can resurrect Wild Arms as a first party game?

Sony does.

Sorry user, it has been murdered.

Doesn't that sell for like 500 bucks today? I know I bought a copy unsealed, but with the manual and everything for about 100 like 10 years ago. Normally I never spend that kind of money on a game, let alone a used game, but Suikoden 1 and 2 are my favorite games of all time, and I luckily had a copy of Suikoden 1 from when it came out.

Sony's always had control of wild arms, user. It was one of their genre-starter pushes back in early playstation.

All are good but I personally consider Valkyrie Profile a favorite in terms of gameplay+story. Really impactful game

>likes JRPG
Oh God just leave /vr/. The trolling has gotten too obnoxious and autistic. It's not worth it.

>Doesn't that sell for like 500 bucks today?
Havent looked it up in some time but its hella expensive yes.
still mad

Valkyrie Profile is worth playing because it's quite unique both from a gameplay and story standpoint (even though the combat basically devolves into button mashing).

Everything else is a bogstandard jrpg with the usual problems of the genre (horrible writing/localization, invisible random encounters every few steps, teenagers save the world plots, etc).

Actually OP, I've been putting VP on the waiting list for way too long so I'll jump on it now.

Man, I really want to play Suikoden, but the thought of missing out on some characters keep me from playing it. Completely missable things in JRPG is the worst.

So be a little bitch and backtrack to every notable person after every minor event with every currently available party member.

Xenogears > VP > Suikoden > Wild Arms

They're all really great games. Here's some brief stuff to help you decide which to play first:

Suikoden II is a long game with base building and TONS of NPC's who can join your base. Outside of that, it's your basic JRPG fair.

Valkyrie Profile is does a lot of stuff that was risky in its day that will feel unique when you play it. It's not really your traditional JRPG. It plays differently and the progression of the game may surprise you.

Wild Arms is more or less your typical JRPG, but the setting has a really cool Old West vibe. I really enjoyed it when I was a kid. It's pretty laid back over all. The vibe is probably the most chill.

Xenogears is...weird as fucking hell. It was half finished with Square dramatically cut its budget and moved resources over to Final Fantasy VII development(which had run WAY over budget). Consequently, the last half of the game is rushed through (it's VERY noticeable.) When you get to disc 2 you play through the bullet points. Out of all of the games in your pic, Xenogears is probably the most bizarre and the most fucking...Japanese? The story is basically Neon Genesis Evangelion crossed with Dune crossed with Final Fantasy.

I hate when you people leave out how much stuff they stole from Gunnm from start to end.
Fuck, you already have parallels and rip-offs right at the beginning of the game.

>Wild Arms is more or less your typical JRPG, but the setting has a really cool Old West vibe.
This is false. I got into Wild Arms because I thought it was a Wild West-style JRPG series but no, it has sci-fi plot twists, aliens, mecha, gods, all sorts of weird supernatural shit.
It's knock-off Evangelion but with cowboys and gunslingers.

My favorites were Wild Arms 2, Legend of Dragoon, Chrono Cross and Xenogears.

>It's knock-off Evangelion
fuck off no it's not. not even close. Especially considering it would have been far into development by the time Eva was done you midwit
Anyway, Wild Arms 3 is the one you all want if you're looking to completely delve into the Wild West setting besides just the character's outfits.

Don't spoil that shit man. Why do you think I didn't bring it up?

>The story is basically Neon Genesis Evangelion crossed with Dune crossed with Final Fantasy
Nah, it's just Childhood's End crossed with Gundam and Star Wars.

>Wild Arms 3

Play Xenogears first. The main reason american retards are bitching about it is because they don't understand it.
Suikoden 2 is amazing as well, but is miles away Xenogears story wise.

The other two are casual stuff.
