Nier automata

ok, Zig Forums, I look at this game and I see an anime girl wearing a french maid outfit, carrying a sword bigger than her that floats above her back. Explain to me why it is good, and why I should give it a chance.

I can't, your first impressions are correct

>Explain to me why it is good, and why I should give it a chance.
Why do you need other people to shill you a game? Is your NPC brain physically unable to make it's own opinion?

fuck off

Good music. Good story.

First playthrough play on hard. And just try to struggle through the first stage, because it doesn't have any checkpoints.

Trust me. The game is too easy if you don't play on hard.

It's fun.

Make your own choices you fucking retard

grow up faggot

neck yourself

die in a fire

Don't play anime games if you hate anime? Fucking retard.

did I say I hated anime? you punk ass bitch

Do you like atmospheric, emotional gaming experiences that try something new and tend to stick with you for a long while after you turn off the game? Like, do classics such as Silent Hill 2, MGS2, Ico / SotC, and even Devil May Cry belong into your favorites?
Did you at any point play the original NieR, or the Drakengard titles?

If you answered "yes" to most of these items, then Nier Automata is a must play. Honestly, the less you know before hand, the better. It's a honest to god gaming experience like nothing else, which would lose a huge chunk of its appeal if it was consumed in a passive manner.
The finale seriously gets me teary eyed.

Gameplay is very varied, fast and smooth.
The visual design is damn good, and the OST is absolutely amazing.

I havent played any of the games in your list, or any platinum games, or any hack and slash since God of War on the psp. I have zero frame of reference here.

>I havent played any of the games in your list
That's honestly very surprising to me.
And, a bit sad as well.

Are epic single-player experiences even part of your typical gaming diet in general?
If not, I'm not sure if N:A (or any of those mega classics) are for you.
Sure, this could be your gateway to some truly magnificent vidya rides. One user just recently told us that he'd been avoiding anything he saw as "weeb shit", but Nier Automa practically converted him, and now he's been enjoying tons of games and media originating from Japan.

I seem to have underlined the source country of the game a bit too much, so let me just clarify that the themes of the game are very global.

The music is fantastic, the story is dark, dramatic and meaningful with plenty of twists. The gameplay is decent as well and mixes it up a lot with Shmup sections. It's not a perfect game, but it does a lot of things extremely well and with such purpose that's kind of rare in the industry.
I beat it a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Didn't see what the hype was about before.

just play through it until E. the less you know the better the experience, this is a must play for anyone regardless of preference.

nerd

Go without any expectations and get blown away.

Because it literally doesn't even pick up story wise until route C but i have now gone from "this seems alright i guess" to "this game is completely fucking based"

real deep philosophy and excellent subversion of expectations on par with Gen Urobuchi writing.

>comparing sotc and silent hill 2 to nier automata
Looooooool

I'm sorry you're an emotioneless bot who has not played the game.

No, no lols.
Both are profound masterpieces and undeniable classics.

You have to self-impose to make gameplay balanced and it's not even easy to do so.

There are some balancing issues. I would recommend starting on Normal and switching to Hard once you are overfarmed from sidequests.

Automata is a great Taro game, it does something interesting trying to merge narrative and gameplay, story is very emotional too. Gameplay is not Platinum's best but it's decent. You should play Automata if you're interested in games that make you emotional with their narrative.

I made the same assumption as you for a lot of time. Then I played it and then I played it the previous games and now is my favorite franchise.

Music and asthetics are top notch. Game stars being unfair with no save system and nothing in it looks special. The story starts to develop and gets interesting until the first end, then you play again and the game just fuck with you and it's a great moment. You reach the thrid playtrough and you are full invested and then you get the final credits and it wins your heart forever. It's not for everyone and it's not as deep as some fans pretended to be but it's not "anime girl big sword" as it looks, it gets more interesting if you git gud.
