Over others, it just has broader appeal and is more generous. The fact is that you shouldn't get into any gacha ever because of how unnecessarily huge of a time sink it is. I wish I could quit Dokkan, but sunk cost fallacy and a fear of missing out on the rare "game" part of it keep me coming.

For a gacha you don't have to put that much time into Dokkan since shit eats so much stamina and regens so slowly.

Arknights. I quit feh and duel links before this one. I usually whale pretty hard on gachas I like but arknights is weird because I only spent about 1/6 of what I've spent on the other gachas and I've run out of things to whale on.

It still has the skinner box format. Stamina in the first place means you can't get shit done all at once and the constant new f2p grinds you may or may not need force you to keep playing if you want to keep up. It's just not worth it in the long term.

One thing I love about the game is that old units are rarely obsolote. You can always use them one way or another. And they just added a new PVP mode where even the most outdated of 6* units are good.

It's three things in my opinion.
First, it's not as scummy as other gachas.
Look at the guaranted LR ticket banner that's up this anniversary. Other gachas would have locked that shit behind a paywall *cough*legends, or the missions to get them would be so arduous and time consuming barely anyone would do them. But no, they're just normal missions anyone can do even with a new account, and you get the exact reward they advertised.
Second, your units have value.
What I mean is, even if you pull a mediocre unit, because of the way the categories and the same-name system is set up, you can find some niche for every unit. Like PHY Future Gohan is shit, but he links really well with the INT Future Gohan that came out a year later. So rather than being replaced, he only gets improved thanks to a new version of himself.
Compared to OPTC for example, where every new version of each character can't be used with another version of the same character regardless of name, and so everything is getting replaced constantly. Here you can have a team full of Gokus as long as each have a different name. So they don't lose their value years after release.
This is without even going into EZAs which do straight up just give you ton of rewards and a much better unit, again, fuck you legends.
I mean they could just buttfuck us all but they don't.
Which is my third point, in that Dokkan isn't harsh on you not getting the new unit.
I feel they know we know the game is trying to scam us, so there's no point trying to deceive or force people into anything.
Sure they tempt us, but you are NEVER locked out of anything for not pulling the new unit. Again, OPTC, every TM they bring out a, garbage, unit on their own banner. Why pull on it if they're shit? Because they multiply your points in that given TM. Will they be useful again any time in the future? lolno. You want a high ranking on this 5 day event? Better fucking drop some gems along with your time. Dokkan doesn't do that.

I'm glad they have been sidelining Treasure Map lately. Kizuna is the mode you wanna grind for materials to fully max your units, while Treasure Map usually just gives you Legend Dupes for grinding a lot.
It also doesn't help TM's case that old Kizuna boosters now get boosted unlike the TM boosters that become worthless after their TM is over.
