It's the exact same communities as any other internet gathering prior. Message boards, chat rooms, social media like LiveJournal or MySpace that had groups and clubs.

Eventually, the community will gain regulars, those regulars will dominate the scene. Everyone else will suck the popular regulars dicks and they control the groupthink. They chase out newcomers who disagree with them. Then something autistic happens that causes a "falling out" like someone got mad during a fucking video game and e-drama starts, then people declare they're leaving.

It's all just retarded bullshit. This is why browsing the internet anonymously is superior.

It's a good application for coordinating a group/community. The quality of the community is dependent on the group of course.
I have been in and help to run a big DnD campaign from there for the past year and half, just recruiting from Zig Forums /tg/. Best campaign I've ever played in, now I hang out and chat and play vidya with them all the time too.

Maybe if you keep at it enough, same goes for any internet community really but you need to be a little careful based on how they are and be ready to bow out if shit starts setting off some alarms.
Larger communities are a clusterfuck but they can be good for getting like-minded individuals together and eventually end up doing your own thing together if shit hits the fan.
