What are some paper Mario games you want but will probably never happen? For me, I’d love an origin story of how Mario and Luigi got to the mushroom kingdom. The story would probably just be bowser kidnapping peach, but you could probably add some twists and turns to it. The game would probably start out in new donk city. Your partners could include characters like Stanley the bug man, a goomba, luigi, a sidestepper, and more.

The arts and crafts becoming the basis of the story has completely destroyed my interest in this series. Not that the story was everything but they used to let me explore Mario's world in ways I'd never expect. It's not Mario's world now, it's just a paper gag, and the attempts to apply pathos to these stories are undermined by them being predicated on paper gags. Fucking imagine if Admiral Bobbery explained how his wife had died in a glitter bomb incident. That's what Paper Mario is like now. Both the humor and the storytelling is all arts and crafts.
