they didn't attempt to stop the PC port, the code is technically not theirs since it's not the actual source, but a decompiled code that was worked on to end up perfectly compiling back
They went after pre-compiled exes with the assets already in, that was the issue

yeah, hence why without assets, the code is fine. I don't think calling it a mario 64 code decompilation breaks copyright either, or else calling something a "Super Nintendo emulator" would also be a legal problem, but it isn't
