continued from Rita the smelly lesbian says talk about your games, ask for help and remember not to respond to bait. Also name your favorite JRPG. Mine is Kh2 even though the story isnt that great the combat makes me replay it every year.
Sunday JRPG Thread part 2
coom in rita
what are some good but not well known vita and psp rpgs? ive played everything that was well known already
Xeno or FF12?
Tales of Series is Dead...
Dragon Quarter because I loved the setting and the various levels of management each system needs to hit that 1/4 rank.
Shame it's short but it is fitting.
anything but FF12
Generations of Chaos in PSP if you don't have anything to play.
Besides Flight-Plan, what's another dev that mostly focuses on SRPGs, that are mostly not translated? Most of Nippon Ichi's stuff is translated.
PoPoLoCrois
Oreshika Tainted Bloodlines
Play Grandia.
Don't you fucking start
Leave that in the other thread
Dungeon Travelers 2
Xenoshitter got destroyed so hard
i'm playing it at this very moment
Can dark souls be considered a jrpg, even tho it stole a lot of early action wrpgs ideas and "created" a new genre?
yes, the enemy and level designs (the core of souls) are very japanese
j/w aren't system based but location based
to do otherwise is a distinction without a clear difference.
It's never dead until (You) learn Japanese and play all the nip-onry team destiny games.
Honestly the biggest example I can think of is the Sakura Wars and the SRW series, otherwise there's really no SRPG-centered developers that never got any of their games localized because you live in a timeline where even the Utawarerumono games got official translations. Even all the mainline Dept Heaven games got consistently localized. Even Nobunaga's fucking Ambition got some localizations, despite 大航海時代/Uncharted Waters not having the same luck.
>RPG
>made by Japan
Nah, it's definitely a WRPG.
I see, thank you
You know what I meant lad
>made by jap devs
>rpg
yes it is a JRPG stop asking this dumbass question
Xillia 1 and 2 remasters next year user
>be hyped for Sakura Wars for years as one of the last great SRPGs that's mostly Japan only
>Sakura Wars 1 finally gets translated
>download the patch and boot up the Saturn emulator
>it's mostly a VN, and the SRPG aspect is barely 10% of the game
I've never been so disappointed
not sure if want
I'd rather have Graces. Or, better yet, I'd rather have Innocence and Hearts ported from Vita.
please god no. those two games can stay on ps3. played them on rpcs3 and the last thing i wanna do is replay them
Whoever told you the early games were SRPGs was an idiot.
Is Bravely Second worth playing? I enjoyed BD but I stopped at some point during all the repeats and never finished it.
Eh, if you can get it cheap. It's mechanically better than the first game but the story is a lot worse.
I was under the impression they were just a more light-hearted version of Front Mission, but with girls.
lol no. The slice of life waifu shit has always been the focus of Sakura Wars.
Is the HD version still crap? Should I just emulate the original?
alright, I got all tales of games on steam, which one do I start with? Berseria first, then Zestiria and finish with Vesperia?
Symph then Vesp then stop
You should emulate tales of the abyss undub first if you havent played that
Just finished FF8 remastered.
I like playing at normal speed.
Does FF9 remaster has annoying input lags in battle too on normal speed?
I plan to play on the Switch if it matters.
I liked Disgaea 5 so I decided to try out the Disgaea 1 port for the nintendo. I think the story and characters are way better so far, but the gameplay is such a slog compared to 5. It's clunky to the point where I frequently want to take breaks, and the available options for grinding aren't nearly as good either. I find myself replaying past levels rather than entering the item world just to get it over with more quickly. I'm honestly baffled by this, if they went to all the trouble of polishing the graphics and changing a bunch of other stuff, why wouldn't they add in all the improvements 5 achieved?
It's a dating sim with SRPG battles here and there, whoever told you that obviously never even played them. It's among the best dating sims, but if you aren't pleased by that, give up.
As you noticed, instead of leveling up, your relationship with each character during a chapter will determine their powerlevel in battle at the end of the chapter. The only wrong thing to do is to try and please everyone equally. One or two girls at high spirits will wipe the floor.
>even tho it stole
>stole
Retard
Someone recently put out an English translation of the Saturn original. That's what I've been playing.
>annoying input lags
I don't know what you mean. But the battle assistance cheat is fucking useless. At the very beginning of the game, you have to wait for all 4 characters to go through their Trance formations, which takes almost a minute. That, and Zidane's Steal ability is fucking tedious. STEAL. COULDN'T STEAL ANYTHING. STEAL. COULDN'T STEAL ANYTHING. STEAL. COULDN'T STEAL ANYTHING.
I'm talking about the PS4 remasters though
I've played Symphonia already, but thanks
Well, I didn't want to emulate one before trying the ports, do you really think it's necessary to play Abyss first?
The whole battle menu in FF8 runs at like 15 fps. It is very annoying to play like that.
I'm just wondering if FF9 has that problem too.
Abyss is the only tales of game that is an emotional rollercoaster. It has the best writing but suffers from backtracking. Since you're on an emulator you can speed up the backtracking parts. Majority of tales fans agree that symphonia and abyss are the best written games. My personal choice is abyss because of how much it fucks with you and makes you think its about to end just to have some shit happen to fuck you up.
You ever force yourself through a boring jrpg and end up liking it?
Recently I've tried playing some popular jrpgs like tales, suikoden, persona, etc. and they haven't been enjoyable at all so I stopped playing early on, but I feel like I need to go back and finish them because they're so highly regarded and I must be missing something.
Ok, I'm going to start with this one then. Thanks
If for no other reason than system advancements making it more annoying to go back to it's worth it. It's also just a better game too.
