What games did people born from 1995-2002 grow up playing? Share fond memories and experiences in this thread.
Zoomer Nostalgia
Zelda, PS2 games, Gen 1-3 Pokémon.
*sips* Yep, those were the days.
Which PS2 games?
FFX, Gran Turismo 4, and oddly enough Vice City.
Vice City? Wow. What was that like for you growing up, being able to play games like that?
I don't know how I came into this game, since I hadn't played any other dragon quest game, but holy shit is it still one of my favorite games of all time.
2001 gang where you at?
PETER JACKSON'S KING KONG FUCKING SLAYS AND I DONT KNOW HOW
I was born in early '96 and no, most of us were not allowed to play games like that.
sure if you had shitty parents
parents like mine didn't give a fuck unless it had nudity that you could not avoid or better yet was only in one scene where you could legit close your eyes til they stopped talking
Wouldn't the shitty parents be the ones who let their kids play ultraviolent games?
>JRPG
>Racing game
>a parody game of the 80s that does not even have real fingers or detailed faces
"ultra violent"
what are you talking about
>GTA
>Not violent
What's your point?
GTA is no different than any action movie that kids would be allowed to watch unless their parents are strict asses
>tfw my parents were super lax about exposing me to sex but I wasn't allowed to play "violent" video games until I turned 15
born in 1998
played a lot of halo, call of duty, dragon ball z, need for speed, and melee growing up
I was born in 1996, but during my childhood, the SNES was still the most popular console in my shithole city. I used to play a lot of Goof Troop and Magical Quest 3 with my cousins.
1995 isn't zoomer territory. nice try though.
Many sources consider 1995 to be zoomer.
Minecraft is the zoomer nostalgia like Ocarina is the millennial nostalgia game. Personally I've never really played Minecraft and I don't plan too since back in the day that game was carried by children and a few ecelebs.
Good taste kiddo
Good taste.
thanks geezer
Didn't really have that much of an effect, honestly.
Guess kids playing M-rated games doesn't really matter then.
bump
For me its
I remember playing pic related when I was 6. For reference I was born in 2000. It scared the shit outta me and playing it now, it doesn’t really hold up that well. However I’m gonna miss games like these, that actually had passion and a small team behind them. Games like these took risk something that too many AAA games nowadays don’t do. Everything’s too casual and easy.
Ocarina and Pokemon blue were my first videogames that I played at my cousins house. Grandparents got me my own 64 when I was 4. Grew up playing that, gamecube, ps2, and tons of gen 3 pokemon.
personal hits from my childhood?
Starfox 64, Slycooper, Ocarina, Majora, halo 1 and 2, Banjo, Pokemon Emerald, pokemon Gold, and Chameleon Twist 1 & 2. I would also throw New Vegas in there even though I was in 8th grade when it came out, but that game still had a profound effect on me.
the first 4 Command & Conquer games, Driver and morrowind were my earliest experiences. My first console was a gamecube but i never got any of the big games for it. I remember playing starsky and hutch, starfox adventures and the donkey kong game with the bongos.
Mario ports on Game Boy Advance like Super Mario World and Super Mario Brothers 2, Pokemon Emerald, and a TMNT game were some of my favorites. I sold my game boy advances unfortunately but I at least kept all the games. I also eventually got a Gamecube and played Super Mario Sunshine and Mario Kart Double Dash among others on it.
suprised not mentioned
I remember buying this with my Christmas money back in late 2005 along with Sonic Mega Collection and Gems Collection. Probably the best Christmas break I had as a kid.
born in May, '96 in Europe.
My household was one of the few in the area with Nintendo systems rather than Sony stuff, this is because I had 3 older siblings and our dad figured we should pretty much play vidya together so he picked N64 purely because saw 4 controller ports.
We played all the N64 classics, Mario/Zelda, Mario party, SSB and the platformers like Banjo Kazooie, Bomberman Hero etc. Kids from the neighborhood would often visit us to play Smash together.
After that we got a Gamecube pretty late in 2003 and played all the essential games on that. I always got hand-me-downs since our family wasn't very wealthy so while Pokemon gen 3 was already out I'd play the originals on gameboy color.
The Wii was the first system I deliberately bought myself in 2008 when my oldest 2 siblings stopped having a big interest in vidya. My brother bought a PS3 in 2010 and that was my first time playing a Sony console.
What's interesting though is that before the Wii, Nintendo characters aside from Mario were basically unknown here in Europe not even Zelda was well known here. It's sometimes jarring to me how much Nintendo stuff there is now compared to when I was a kid.
Everyone always talked about Playstation in the past.
