Honestly his Soma and Dark Souls videos are pretty terrific, and even relaxing in the background. He dropped off in quality once he focused on star wars and capeshit, mostly because that material is so much less interesting and the negative focus ends up feeling whiny.

We get it, Force Awakens is full of missed opportunity, and going apart piece by piece on missed potential and going on and off topic to talk about how a scene fucks up or does something good with writing is dull because he's just talks about the same 2 points over and over. Ironically what he said in his first video about "Video Length" rings here, he's not saying anything new, he's not debunking any arguments, he just repeating himself.

There's nothing new he' saying after "That was a missed oppertunity, or, this scene did some bad writing". Force Awakens has been out for 5 years. Have the new films made TFA a bit bad, or just goofy in hindsight? Yes. So just find some of the bits that are worth pointing out and then be done with it. He doesn't need 6 parts to do this

Longform critique is not inherently bad, but MauLer has absolutely nothing insightful to say. All he does is surface level nitpicks, ignores context and theme, and fails to make any sort of real point. he's the equivalent of a student who didn't do the reading and is just writing bullshit to inflate the word count, hoping the professor doesn't notice

To improve, for fun, what does it matter whats its for? You can do a lot more than describe whats going on, thats a narrow view of objectivity. You can do things like point out inconsistent rules/plot/characters, those are objective factors.
