I went to a private school, so every guy's parents had the money to buy them a gameboy. Guys wouldn't out other guys. Girls would though, all the time.

I dont recall of a situation like that, because handhelds in the 90s were bricks and pretty easy to steal and parents would not allow kids to take them to school. There was a tamagotchi phase though, and everyone did that, even teachers did.

Now, in the 2000s, phones? I remember people snitching "prof, that girl over there is texting" which lead to lose the phone for a week or so with some teachers.

one time in first grade I called the black assistant teacher that always wore a white dress shirt and a black bow tie a retard really loudly in front of everyone and I had to go sit in a quiet room for problem kids. I felt bad because he was actually a cool guy
