Trials of Mana

When does it become fun? I just completed ghost ship and not sure if I should continue. The story is mediocre, party members don't have much of a personality, combat system is not bad but not good either, reminds me of dragon nest mmo from 2010, except that mmo had a shitton of moves for every character. I thought a single player game should have a little bit more variety in builds, moves, most shit I can learn is +5stat and some +5% damage garbage. I have never played an original so I am not sure what to expect honestly. Does the game become better? I even put on a few visual mods to make it more entertaining, including the one that allows me to put on any costume. I think the only reason I didn't uninstall yet is Angela. What do you guys think about this game?

it's an old game with a modern 3d coat of paint
only shills and fanboys will praise this garbage

why do sluts have double bangs?

Actually yes, this game gets a lot of praise for some reason. Maybe it's just nostalgia factor. I feel like it could be much more fun with bigger budget but then it's going to be something entirely different.

Didn't felt like this game had a lot of references for older titles but what could I know? Share your opinion about this particular remake.
Well I mean yes it's not that bad, the game has it's moments but the more I progress the more I feel something's lacking. Like there are a few missing pieces to make this game great and more enjoyable. I usually expect an engaging story from JRPGs but this one couldn't hook me and all this back and forth travel with ship-cannon-ship-cannon is just weird. Right now I need to reset 2 of my characters because I got a second job recently but I can't do that yet, have to wait until story can give me a chance to visit black market to do it.

Trials of Mana's story progression is literally 1:1 with the original. Its a very faithful remake for better or worse.

>Trials of Mana
>Any modern Square Enix game
>Becoming fun
Seriously man, JRPGs have become a drag, but Square Enix published games are anti-fun.

Guess I am just not a target audience. Got it.

"Secret of Mana" has always been a sloppy "party rpg" with a whimsical yet strangely boring world and characters. Its direct sequel was more of the same with anything interesting diffused across an even larger more worthless cast. There's a reason it's always struggled among Square's various properties and Angela's butt has always singlehandedly carried SD3.
The very first game in the series, Seiken Densetsu, was a generic but soul-filled action RPG for the original gameboy and one of the finest games on that platform.

Id say for better. Fixes a lot of problems while seamlessly adding better mechanics. To anyone who hasnt played the original, its a straight up remaster of the SNES, so dont expect anything THAT new and modern.

It gets fun when you blow shit up as Angela and then recoup the MP cost by smacking things with a stick.

Literally only for original fan boys. Dont like it? You werent a fan. Not catered to people new to the franchise. As it should be.

It's a coomer game. What do you expect?

Take the ability that regenerates 15%(?) of your MP after a battle and you'll literally never need to smack anything.

i want to FUCK angela

I enjoyed this game alot. Best team is Duran/Hawkeye/Kevin with just physical combat. Angela is best character overall with her light magic. Charlotte can fuck off.

stupid sexy tree

trails of mana was never good.

You should be playing the SNES version, OP.

cute and charwottepiwwed

it's the shallowest cash grab of an rpg

it just goes through the fantasy motions without making it interesting

you gotta go get the elemental powers and fight the elemental bosses

oh no they released the bigger elemental bosses, go back to the same places again

alright the big bad got the sacred power and nothing you did throughout the game meant anything, just beat the big bad now

it's over

oh there's an extra chapter, another ancient evil has been unleashed

go through the evil castle and beat them. you did it.

its refreshing to see expected things in world design. it makes me realize just how much modern rpgs fuck up even walking around towns

>Rub eyes in hair
>HP & MP Restored

all the story you need

>he just beat ghost ship
>he just saw a boss with some pretty cool mechanics
>now is when he decides this game has no potential and won't ramp up
???

Just alt+f4'd after playing for two hours with two other party members. The combat system feels very basic, but I could see it working if there was more feedback on your strikes and more importantly, when you take damage. Small things really but they would help in making it feel more engaging.

Guys 2 synapses in my brain just sparked
What if a monster raped a girl but I was the monster

My favorite thing about the game is the character building. My favorite part of any RPG that allows it, really. My only issue is the game is too easy, so the builds can never be properly tested.
Also I like playing as Duran and Kevin, but prefer Angela and Charlotte as the MCs.

It is comfy. So, gets a pass from me.

You're learning. Soon you'll self-insert into monster porn like I've been doing for years.

I think it'd get less praise if it weren't clearly a b-grade game sold at a lower than average price from the getgo. It's a pretty thorough budget remake of a game that had only been officially released in the west very shortly beforehand (thereby influencing a lot of people to just wait for the new one) and the game mechanics/party system were pretty novel at the time of the original. I consider it a pretty solid release.
