heres the petition boys:

Petition to ban loot boxes in the UK
Alright I'll make a sig-
>Only British citizens or UK residents have the right to sign
Welp
based
the only reason gambling is heavily regulated is because you can use it to launder money
you cannot launder money with gacha
the gambling equivalent for video games is real money trading and every single mmo cracks down on it insanely hard
>inb4 Americans rush in to defend their beloved corporate kikes
signed. fuck loot boxes
When has one of these petitions ever changed something.
Now that shitting on lootboxes is popular, how long until Zig Forums starts defending them out of spite?
gachashitters and EAtards will do that job
Yes you can
Just dont buy them. Fucking retards.
Shut the fuck up
how come nobody opposes gachas despite beingg 20 times more jewish than lootboxes? because its japan?
newfag
>petition to stop retards from handing over money
nah
Oh yeah, I'm sure telling a bunch of social rejects not to do something will ensure that everyone else in the world won't do it.
How are exploitative marketing tactics even still legal?
coomers don't feel shame
i thought they already passed legislation for this
companies will still find workarounds. honestly, i see no difference between a randomised loot box and an in-game cosmetic purchase. all cancer.
Nothing will come of this. When there are actual laws against it, you know what will happen? They just won't release it in UK, or ban UK IPs. Capitalism baby.
Smart companies saw the writing on the wall and started shifting to battle passes and direct purchases. Loot boxes and rng drops might go but aggressive monetization is here to stay.
Signed it
Based fuck valve
>was still able to sign despite not being a brit.
people do.
But the honest answer is because Gacha is actually just slots. And if that doesn't appeal to you, then you just don't play it. Nobody is playing Gacha and going "man I hate the slot machine mechanics." Whereas people playing normal games with lootboxes do.
>loot boxes give me free maps
>without loot boxes we're gunna go back to expensive map packs
>nobody buys maps
>divides community
>aggressive monetization.
Why do people say this? I can't think of a time I was ever tempted by DLC other than expansion packs. Not lootboxes not season passes or lootboxes or horse armour. I find these the least aggressive because they are entirely ignorable. The closest to an annoying one is Siege making operators season pass exclusive for a week.
>only bongs can vote for shit to be banned in bongistan
Wow user, you seem to be really smart. Why the fuck should a government listen to people from outside their country?
No shit. Gamers already proved they're willing to shell out their entire life savings on microtransactions so why wouldn't you try to get at that money anyway possible? Lootboxes were the dumbest low effort way to do it but they're not gonna give up just because they have to actually provide more content now.
map packs will be free, they'll spin it as generosity but it's really because selling premium cosmetics is more effective when there are plebs around to envy you.
Good
Calm down, user.
>petition
Didn't you kids learn in like 2011 that these are worthless and the lowest tier of virtue signaling? Even if I'm for it.
Can we ban paki rape gangs too?
better idea: classify gambling as loot boxes
Enjoy your £70 games
Not a britbong but based.
i don't know what modern games you've played but i saw it a lot in f2p games. there are constant reminders that the cash shop exists, usually in the form of popups on login/menu change and flashing buttons advertising time limited deals and shit. on the gameplay side there's tons of padding with time gating and grinding so they can sell boosters and skips.
>just don't do drugs
>just don't drink alcohol
>just don't smoke
That was happening whether or not loot boxes were b&, these companies don't even pay taxes, any justification they make is PR bullshit.
This is true but coincidentally UK's house of lards are requesting immediate action to ban loot boxes and similar gambling mechanics there. After the house of lards the law needs to pass through the queen though so it'll be a while before anything happens. If they are lucky though maybe there's an action happening in one months time though. I don't know.
Did you know that FIFA 20 has now earned $1.46 BILLION only from the microtransactions alone? The game which is rated PEGI 3 and kids as young as they can play it because football is harmless? EA has single handedly changed the game's mechanics so that the p2w mechanics are enforced. Everyone is complaining about it but the company makes so much money and they hold the game as hostage because there's nobody else making football games.
I don't give a fuck about sport games but this is something I didn't have any clue at all.
EA was already in court in UK and their representative considered the gambling mechanics as "we like to call them as surprise mechanics and it's something what people generally enjoy". Yeah right.
I really hope the law goes through in UK and wish similar action would happen throughout the EU. Belgium already banned them ages ago but that's probably all I think.
Yes. Avoid all of these things and be better so you outcompete all the retards and degenerates.
GUBERMNET PLZ HELP ME IM TOO WEAK TO CONTROL MY GAMBLING ADDICTION IT'S NOT MY RESPONSIBIIOKTILTIIY
Uhh for MP at the moment I currently just play Warzone and LoR. LoR is basically just cosmetics with how much free shit they give you. I know Warzone has "battlepass" and I'm sure there is the odd popup but I honestly have no idea what the fuck is in it. I played a lot of CS and League never felt compelled to buy case keys or skins. The only thing I think crossed a line was Siege with the week of exclusivity. I know every single player game that comes out has like 15 different versions and a "season pass" but I always just buy the standard edition and totally don't seem to be missing anything.
I don't know. I just feel like the outrage is over blown. There could be a popup or two that I just click out. I know steam itself even does that by default. But if loot boxes and season passes are the extent of "aggressive monetization" I think vidya is in a good place.
If that's all you play you've managed to stay out of the really shitty ones. Go install any gacha game and tell me it doesn't immediately start bombarding you with ads for shit.
This directly goes to the UK government, if it gets to 100,000 signatures it gets brought up in parliament. This isn't change.org where it makes it seem like you are making a difference
They actually bombard you with free shit when you first start playing.
yes but that's what gacha IS.
>go to the casino and see there is gambling
the fundamental whole premise of gacha is rolling for shit. You can hardly complain. I am talking about vidya vidya. As in on PC or console played primarily for gameplay.
Why doesn't the game just have a map editor?
t. yong out !
