I am genuinely curious.
has anyone who acualy played this game on Zig Forums and thinks its the best thing ever played any other open world games.
As someone who pretty much played most of them.
Stuff like Red Faction Guerilla Saboteur MGSV Horizon ZD witcher 3 Just cause saints row all the Fallouts and elder scrolls and Ass Creeds and the list goes on i found the game to somewhat mediocre. I mean it was still fun but i genuinely had more fun playing many older open world games.
The combat was bland and all of the bosses other than Thunder-blight Gannon ware complete garbage including the final boss majority of shrines ware worthless or piss easy.
The side quests are almost completely pointless and usual do not even contribute to the story.
Hell the only thing the game has over most other open world games is the sandbox physics but at the end of they day even that became tiered as it was more efficient and ironically more fun to go "guns blazing" agaisnt enemies.
I am genuinely curious
It was many peoples first open world game if they were a Nintendo-only type so It get's praised as revolutionary.
I think it's the best because it is open world zelda
it's baby's first open world
BotW is my favorite game. I tried playing the Witcher 3 but dropped it like 4 hours in. It's incredibly boring if you don't follow plot paths. I felt like I would have to play for a long stretch of time to accomplish anything otherwise I would come back to play it and not be invested in whatever was happening in the plot. The world felt shitty and linear. It had no freedom.
I like to play a game for an hour at a time or so, fuck around, and then put it down. BotW is perfect for that.
I've played next to no open world games but I did play Gravity Rush 2 and Nier Automata and enjoyed them more than BotW by a considerable margin. Hell, I liked Mirror's Edge Catalyst more and everyone shits on that game.
plebian test
what did you think of TP
It's a solid 7/10.
It's a decent tech demo but has numerous flaws, and is weak as a Zelda. The idea of it being a masterpiece is laughable.
It wasn't my first open world game but it's definitely my favourite. And BotW hardly makes it into my top 3 Zeldas.
Never played it. Botw was my first 3d zelda
BOTW is the best adventure game I've ever played. When I saw the trailer youtube.com
>It's a decent tech demo
It was a fully realised vision put into game. I can understand some people not liking it, but to call it a tech demo is sheer stupidity. Was Half Life 2 a "tech demo" for the Source engine? Such nonsense.
9/10, sometimes an 8 depending on what part of the game we’re talking about
Longtime Zeldafag here, if you like BotW you probably won't care much for TP and vice versa. It's not as egregious as Skyward Sword but it's definitely among the most linear, story-oriented entries in the series. Wind Waker is more in line with what BotW tries to do, albeit in a very flawed and prototypical sense.
You will understand once BotW2 comes out.
I like Minecraft
WW is also very linear for the most part. No variation in dungeon order. Most of the exploration is optional and very repetitive. And if you try to go off the story path as soon as you get the boat, the game (i.e. the talking boat) won't let you. You get the most choice when finding the triforce shards, but it's pretty boring.
BotW2 can give free blowjobs for all I care. In fact, I believe it will because BotW has some obvious flaws that can be and probably will be addressed by iterating its core concepts. But that is entirely beside the point, BotW is not a tech demo and I fail to understand why you would spout such unintelligent opinions just to hide behind cryptic "just wait for the free blowjobs". Silliness.
>Was Half Life 2 a "tech demo" for the Source engine?
well
actually
>It's a decent tech demo
If BOTW was a tech demo Horizon Zero Dawn was a game that was in released to the public in beta form.
ww only has picking up the random weapon drop in common with botw
it's way more akin to OoT or TP than BotW
bruh
attention to detail is about as tech demo as something can get in vidya land
the problem with botw is there is not enough leading content
You are NOT convincing anyone bruh. BTW when this comparison video was released, BOTW sales went up and HZD sales went down. To this day HZD hasn't recovered.
As I said it's very flawed and prototypical but it does at least attempt the open exploration thing in its back half, moreso than the other 3D Zeldas anyways.
According to HZD logic, water catches fire.
"recovered" HZD doesn't have inflated prices nor does it get sold with its own accompanying hardware, by a well reputed company
Are you on drugs, bruh?
lol I wish nigger
Oh I see, you are one of the people still seething about BOTW after 3 years. LMAO. Sucks to be you.
Please stop, you're drowning this thread in stupid.
oh you are one of those people that deflects criticism of your masterpiece
as if a bundle compares to a console being made with it in mind
yea
I am the stupid one
KEK
He is among the people still seething about BOTW. Its a shame Zig Forums doesnt have a name or a meme for these losers. MAD FOR THREE YEARS STRAIGHT LMAO.
You can still get flamewar bans on Zig Forums?
I had pretty much the same experience despite BotW being my first open world game. What really worries me is how Nintendo is constantly praised and rewarded for mediocrity.
Keep posting loser.
if it did have a meme you'd be a faggot for daring to post it
>has anyone who acualy played this game on Zig Forums and thinks its the best thing ever played any other open world games.
Yes I've played most of them over the years. If you can't understand why BotW was such a monumental leap in game design then there's no hope for you. Stay in school.
the combat was awful and having to deal with weapons breaking sucked and other than that it was a really empty walking simulator with an alright climbing mechanic and few really easy puzzles
Yes.
Here is some more
youtube.com
LMAO. According to HZD logic, objects stick to walls.
>the combat was awful
You're awful.
I don’t think it’s the best but I really liked it. I am biased towards Zelda games tho and could see why a lot of people hate it.
youtu.be
wow you can slowmo
cool epic awesome yeet w00t
>As someone who pretty much played most of them.
And this is why you don't enjoy BoTW as much. You're burned out on open world games.
Yes.
youtube.com
Bro, seriously, we need a meme of these people seething since 2017.
>scientists refer to this as far-cry syndrome
kek, based
It's a pretty good game but the flaws are so big I find it difficult someone really believes this is the best game ever.
Unless this is the first sandbox you have ever played, then it will blow your mind.
Now BotW 2, that's going to be good if they actually put some worthwhile content into it.
I call it a tech demo because the content does not take enough advantage of the mechanics/concepts. You can see this perfectly with the shrines, all of them end right as they're getting interesting. All the divine beasts are very short as well. There's a ton of obvious mistakes like pause healing, 90% of the recipes being useless, the terrible UI, the flurry rush timing, etc. Then you have the poor enemy variety, lackluster side quests, lack of uses for all the random crap you pick up, 900 korok seeds, underwhelming bosses, samey looking shrines and divine beasts, and so on and so on.
And no I don't want to get into a quote war over this shit, the point is there's a metric shitton of potential that has yet to be exploited. When I saw the first ever footage for Zelda U (that off-screen mess with Dorito Pope), and they were moving around and talked about how "there could be a dungeon over there", THAT'S what I expected BotW to be. A true 3D interpretation of the original Legend of Zelda. But it wasn't. The four divine beasts were right out in the open and highly scripted, and the shrines felt like bad Portal test chambers (at best). The physics were novel and the world was vast, sure, but the content just wasn't there.
>the flaws are so big
In the past 4 years I've never seen anyone make a single convincing argument against BotW. Not one.
That whole post is garbage. You wasted your time posting that. Just admit you are still mad as fuck.
why are botwfags so insecure?
you post some clip of a sweaty zelda nerd pulling off the best play of his life and it still looks like boring button mashing childsouls
Me neither.
I think exploration in this game is genuinely fun. That being said daggerfall is my favourite open-world game and I don't think that will ever change haha
@516839965
3.5 years and they are still dissecting gameplay like its launch week. Sad.
We are?
>obvious mistakes like pause healing
Seriously? Do you have any fucking idea how many video games do this? I do this ALL THE TIME in RDR2.
Like the rest of your ridiculous complaints, you have to INVENT reasons to hate BotW while ignoring every video game ever made.
No wonder BotW get laughed at.
Aww did somebody ignore your criticism again?
I haven't played Horizon and I don't care about your console war crap.
I do think there's some valid comparisons to be made with other games though. Outer Wilds does the whole "open-ended exploration with no mechanical progression where you can bumrush the ending if you know what you're doing" idea a thousand times better than BotW, and its simulation of gravity and planetary movement is more impressive than BotW's physics. Subnautica has better open-ended exploration, better progression, and makes far better use of the various materials you can pick up. Death Stranding has far more interesting traversal, stamina, and inventory mechanics. Hollow Knight has an actually competent bonus health system, as well as far more enjoyable rewarding exploration. Bayonetta's Witch Time is much better than flurry rush. Zachtronics games do open-ended puzzles with pre-established mechanics better, they're much more challenging and finding clever solutions doesn't feel like cheesing. And so on. And I'm not saying that BotW needed to be some perfect mix of all of those games, I'm saying that a game that does a handful of things well is better than a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none. Zelda used to have a niche, which was having a bunch of cool dungeons and item progression, but BotW drifted away from that because Aonuma played Skyrim.
Frankly I think the physics would have been better served in a new IP that didn't even have to pay lipservice to the Zelda staples and could have its own identity. But then it probably would have made less money.
>it sold the most, so it's the best!
Great, so Fifa is one of the greatest vidya series of all time.
Let's put it this way:
>Most open world games are shit
>Zelda games were good, but got too formulaic
>Despite this, I still think BOTW is a 9.5/10 game. Only complaint is weapons breaking all the time until you get Master Sword, and the Devine Beast areas being too short.
The secret to BOTW is that most Open World games just treat it like scenery to chew between objectives, and BOTW treats it like a Zelda dungeon. BOTW forces you to play around the map itself, and sprinkles puzzles around to give you things to do. The entire game is one continuous Zelda dungeon, instead of having a massive, empty overworked like most other open world games.
TP was when the franchise started losing it's charm. It's not bad, but everything good about it is shit I already saw in TWW, MM, or OOT. 8/10.
I guess the PS4 is one of the shittiest consoles ever made because it sold well.
I think the game is just fun to fuck around in. I maxed out my inventory and armor, filled it with savage lynel weapons. I just like traversing the map and fighting the mini bosses and killing what I find along the way. I've been stuck on the middle trials for the longest time, don't want to start champions ballad till I beat them.
ngl top-level BOTW combat is extremely entertaining to watch, however actually fighting enemies during regular gameplay is pretty underwhelming imo. BOTW's strong suit is the exploration of the world. Other aspects feel rushed but the game is definitely solid
>It's critical acclaimed and sold a fuckton! A clear sign its bad!
>critical acclaimed
lmao tard
It was also released in the Wii U.
All I hope is that I'm vindicated when BotW2 comes out and it's a huge improvement because of all the lessons they learned during BotW's development. You braindead fanboys won't understand unless Nintendo shows you themselves. If not and it has the same issues as BotW, or even doubles down on them, then I'll write off the series like Paper Mario fans have since Sticker Star.
